On august 28th i went to the 519 8th avenue location for vitaldent to cancel my services with them due to personal financial hardships that i am currently experiencing. I signed paper work with office manager mr. Christian ponce, and was charged a $650.00 cancellation fee. The total for my so called treatment was $6,419.00. I was advised that i would get a refund of $5,777 in 3 to 5 days becaused it has to go to their headquaters for approval. I waited for 2 to 3 weeks to to follow up with mr. Ponce about my approval, only to find the phone ringing during regular buisness hours. I tried this for about 2 days, i felt something was strange and went to their website to now find that the website they had for the usa was gone. They now only have a website for spain, portugal, amd italy. I immediately called their so called headquarters at 17 battery place and was told by the person who answered that i should call someone by the name of khan in 2 hours, and that some vitaldent offices have closed, including the location at 519 8th avenue where i had just went to cancel my services 2 or 3 weeks earlier, has only 4 offices and all patients are being transferred to these 4 locations. When i called back khan claimed that my paper work was on his desk, and that he is working on it and that i should get my money back in 3 to 5 days. I called khan either 9/10/08 or 9/11/08 to follow up with him about my refund only to be greeted by a receptionist who told me khan was in a meeting and that i should call back later. When i called back i was greeted by the same receptionist who told me that he was not available and wanted to know what i was calling about. I explained everything to her. She told me she does not know why christian or khan would advise that i would get my refund in 3 to 5 days when the process can take a month or more. When i asked her why so long for a refund she could not explain. And she finally took it upon herself to tell me that vitaldent has been closing their offices and employees would only find out the same day that they are out of a job or will be working at another location, it happened to her as well. She told me that she cannot keep going through phone calls like these and connected me to someone named tania. Tania claimed that she is working on refund approvals in order on a list and that i should call back today 09/19 so that she can better tell me how long it will take. I am worried however that i will just continue to be given the run around. I have filed complaints with my local bbb and the federal trade commission. I also plan to file comlaints with the office of occupations for new york state and with the new attorney general. I even contacted help me howard on the website for wpix here in new york city.
