I just want everyone to know that on 7/17 I had to go to the dentist for a filling that has fallen out of my tooth the day before. I called the office and told them the problem, I also told them that I did not have a lot of money to pay up front (I have been going to this dental office for years, you would think that they would work with you regarding payments). Well on the 17th when I went in, I went back to the room, first of all the girl that was going to take the x-rays and everything basically told me I was lying about the medication that I was taking. She takes the x-rays and then goes to get the dentist. (Not Dr. Mendel, hes out sick, I don't even know the name of this guy that comes in) He comes in and tells me that he needs to fill two teeth on the left and I would either have to have surgery or a root canal and cap on another tooth on the other side. Now this seems to be the standard answer for everything in this place, I have come to find out. He never even looked in my mouth. Was in and out of the room in less than three minutes. Now comes Ruth... Ruth is an office manager or finance person, never had any problem with her in the past but this day seemed not to be her day... She was rude and being a total WITCH (of course that should be with a B) from the time that she walked in the room to me. She told me that it would be almost $900 for two teeth to be filled. I was like no. She goes to me "Whats your problem NOW" And then proceeded to go off on me. Very rude. They charged me $127 for an x-ray. No appologies for her very offensive behavior, nothing.
The only person that treated me with any respect at all was the very first person that I talked to when I walked in the door. She seemed to be the friendlest.
I found another dentist later in the day, no thanks to Dr. Mendel's office. I was able to make payments, got my teeth filled and there was no need for surgery, root canal, or caps. Actually the new doctor wanted to know what the surgery was for. And get this, the price was less than half of what I was quoted at Mendel's office. Less than HALF. The new office has the friendlest staff and the office was clean.
So before anyone goes back to Mobile Family Dentist they better think twice. They are lousy, they over charge you and your insurance company and expect you to pay the difference. And of course there is always that "warm and glowing feeling that you get from the staff at Mobile Family Dental" NOT.
I have also filed complaints with the American Dental Association, The Alabama Dental Association and Mobile Area Dental Association. I just want them to know that Mobile Family Dental overcharges and has the rudest bunch of people working there.
