I signed up for a free trial April 5. I very carefully read the "Terms and Conditions" and made note of the number to call and when if I wished to cancel the free trial. The number was bogus. I reread the terms and the number I had called was the one listed in Smartdiets.com terms. I tried several times and the people who answered did not know what I was talking about. I finally found a place on the site to cancel by email.
I got the same run around as another victim reported on usacomplaints. Coms. They told me they had given my 9 days and I was still late. I asked two times about the bogus number. I was never given an answer. I asked for the supervisor's name after the rude reply I was initially given.
The rep emailed me that there was no supervisor, only the owner of the site and four representatives.
I finally conceded that I was in error. However, on July 15, another $65.00 charge was taken from my account. Again I emailed them explaining I had cancelled and I had never used their service, and again mentioned the bogus number in the terms three months ago. Again, that was never addressed. I have a feeling that if I check the conditions, that number will no longer be there.
Again, they stated I didn't comply with the terms, I had to make a six month commitment, and refused to refund the money. So now, I am out $130.00 with no chance of ever seeing the first $65.00. Because I was so "wishy washy" about doing something back then. They convinced me I was the one in error.
Not this time. Never, in fact. So they will be dealing with my bank. I hope others will come forward. This is not an isolated incident and they will keep charging you every three months.
I never heard from them in those three months either. Since I was charged, I feel there should have been some support from the "owner" of the site.in my experience, that's what an honest service does. They stay in touch, give you a reason to want to stay with their service, communicate.
Sad sad sad. Sad that I didn't act quicker and sad that others will also be taken advantage of.
I was honest with them. I told them I was taking it up with my bank and also filing a report here on usacomplaints. Coms.
There it is. They only want your money. They don't care about your health.
