Dynamic Chiropractic
Took advantage of me in the worst way!

My fiance and I visited Dynamic Chiropractic for the first time on July 31 for an initial exam. Since we were concerned about being able to afford for both of us to receive chiropractic care, we decided to go ahead with my treatment. We explained our financial concerns to Dr. Stein and his assistant, Debbie and asked what the cost would be for just one of us. She informed us that "even without any medical insurance, it would only be $40 per visit." She went on to say that she would submit it to the insurance company and see what they could do.

We decided that we could afford about 10 adjustments, or about $400. After going 9 times, we became concerned that we had not received a bill so I stopped making appointments. We were shocked when we received a bill for $1772! We were told that the insurance company would take care of some, and we were still responsible for $1209.36! Also, my initial exam was $506, and my fiances was $131.40, when we received the same exam. After several phone calls, they decided that I could pay $1066.56, a number that I could clearly still not afford, and was still more that twice what they told me originally! They told me that I had a $1000 deductible, a number that I was never concerned with reaching, since the care should not have cost that much!

We sent them a letter detailing our concerns, with a check for what should have been our bill, $451.40-payment if full. The returned it with a letter that said "It is your choice not to pay your bills, however, if this bill is not paid in full by 4/30/08, the collection process will be started."

They took advantage of me and grossly inflated the charges to get the maximum out of the insurance company and myself. They falsely explained how the coverage works, and left out the part where we didn't have to use our insurance, or that there would be a possibility of a bill more than three times the amount that they gave me in the first place!

On 4/30/08, they took us to small claims court. Knowing that they would lie to the judge and the judge would most likely take the side of the business, we paid the amount they asked for $1252,32 (more than the bill?)
