I describe this company in 3 words, Ignorant, Unskilled and Racist!

I am writing this letter to place a claim against (Community Pet Hospital) for services that were never rendered to me.

This past Saturday (2-8-08) I had schedule an appoint with said establishment to follow up with my puppies 2nd set of vaccinations. Being a first time pet owner and had many inquires on how to care, maintain and keep my animal healthy. After comparing a few veterinary facilities in my area I decided to go with this one as the prior owners of the litter took their dogs & puppies to this veterinary clinic for their 1st vaccination shots, my first thought was that this would be a good idea as they would have all history of the parents medical records for future use etc. I whole heartedly regret stepping foot in this office; from the moment we came in the Receptionist/Assistant was reluctant in answering any questions and ignored anything I said by not answering me back (I noticed this and my husband also brought it to my attention) I let it go and waited for the doctor. The doctor when he saw us made an ignorant comment of Oh Latinos or some kind of remark like that, which I dont know why he would have even said something like that, so if I was Asian or African American would he have mentioned this, I knew that at that moment this was a mistake, but I couldnt walk out as the puppy needed his vaccinations and any other place now I would need an appointment.

The doctor preparing to give the puppy her shot asked me to hold her gave her the shot but broke the needle, the puppy was screaming, I had my 6yr old crying and the doctor blaming me that it happened because I didnt hold the puppy right (well thats why he has an assistant) he then called her and administered the shot. He began talking to her in his language (Polish perhaps) and the assistant began to give him eye ointment, which she didnt inform me until I asked her why it was for. She then had prepared another syringe with medication for Oral use that I had to give her for 3 days (once again she gave the puppy the first dose before me asking what it was) and of course she was charging me for thing that I didnt even consent or knew why it had to me done. Every question I would ask the assistant she would through a pamphlet at me and asked me to read it (I literally have 5 pamphlet at home that she gave me to read) her words were read it, it will tell you in there, Im sorry, but if that was the case I would have gone on line and save me the money she was charging me.

At that point my husband told her that instead of reading it if she would tell us now that we were here, her response was, Im sorry, but I only do the paper work here I dont deal with the customer seems that you want to argue and Im not going to argue with you I told her argue, we just want answers, the doctor is telling me that the puppy has roundworms thats concerning to me because I have little girls that play with her all day; my question was how does this affect the girls and what can I do to prevent the girls from getting it she wouldnt tell me but kept pushing the pamphlets. She said if we had any questions to talk to the doctor, so we asked her to have the doctor come out, he was no better he asked what the problem was (which there was not problem) just his receptionist not being helpful, we asked him and he sarcastically started explain what he did and then he said why do you need to know its complicated for you, itll tell you in the pamphlet read it.

I grabbed my girls and began to walk out and as we were opening the door the assistant said to us not to come back, my husband went to her and told her that if he was paying for a service they would be seeing us again, the doctor came outside and had a confrontation with my husband telling him to not come back and once again he said that if we are paying for it, you will service us. I left that vet office concerned for the health of the puppy my daughters and had more questions than I started with. I believe that any doctor in any profession has an obligation to the patient, if I ask a question about my girls to the pediatrician I know she will take the time to answer me.

As I walked out I immediately contact my bank and informed that I would not pay for a service that they did not provide to me, unfortuanly, I was not able to open a claim until this was on my account.

I refuse to pay for ignorance and have filed also a complaint with the better business bureau. I am a firm supporter of small business as I believe they give the customer that extra touch that major clinics do not possess, unfortunately, this time it was not the case.

For your files: A family member who also purchased a puppy from the same litter informed me that when she also took her puppy to another vet, the vet was upset and actually told her that he didn't like the fact that he was given that shot first because it was not good for puppies that age, but since the series was already started they would continue, but they do not practice like that. (Note: The 1st Vaccinations Shots were administered by Community Pet Hospital)
I have an appointment with a new vet in 2 weeks to review throughly my puppy.
