Last year I signed up for Mid-West's health insurance product thinking it was an affordable alternative to BCBS. The Agent recommended their plan over others.
Unfortunately I had 2 medical events this past year, one was a staph infection that ultimately required 3 surgeries, the last being the amputation of a finger.
Mid-West is not insurance, it is a medical "discount" plan. They have limits on everything from # of doctor visits to cost limits on every service that will bankrupt you if you have any health issues.
My $5,000 deductable actually became $15,196 and out of the $77,000 billed to me they only "considered" $17,088 and paid $13,719. They did get discounts on the original $77,000 down to $55,889 ($21,514 discount).
Do the math. Do not buy this insurance. And if you have it go elsewhere and cancel today. It is all in their fine print. Shame on me.
