I was shopping for health insurance for myself and spouse and was contacted by an agent from adova health, this agent led me to believe that i would have health ins. Coverage through horizon bc and bs and that is would only cost us $249.95 per month for both of us. Such coverage would include medical, vision, dental, and prescriptions.
A one time application fee of 100.00 would apply and coverage would begin 30 days following, immediated payment was required via telephone and we would receive everthng in the mail.
After careful thought and consideration i investigated this with horizon myself and contacted my credit card company to not pay this. Horizon assured me that there is no such plan at that rate and i should investigate further, upon doing so i found many complaintspanp via the internet and was convinced that this company is a scam. I was lucky to have done so in a very short period of time. It was not even 12 hours later that i discovered this and was able to cancel and protect my credit card.
When i called adova, which by the way doesnot answer their phone as adova, they simply say health companies, i asked the agent the name of his company and he told me adova, i had to pull information out of them. When i told them i ws not going to go through with the transaction, i was immediately given to a supervisor who tried to tell me that i would not be placed with horizon, as i was originally told, and that it is a company called hi mark. I told him i was not interested and did not want to apply with their company.
After investigating that company, it turns out that adova is simply a discount savings plan that hardly no body participates with and you rarely or never get any reimbursement or coverage. The supervisor also argued the fact about the scam complaints against adova and tried to persuade me differently.
I strongly feel that this company should be brought to their knees and investigated on a more intense level.
I would advise anyone who is shopping for health insurance coverage to contact the insurance company directly and get names. I am fortunate enough tohave been in the healthcare industry for my entire life and know it doesn't work like adova.
