I made an appointment with an OBGYN. After taking off work and driving there I was told there was only a practitioner available to do my test. She was overworked and tired. She took my test and mixed it up with another women's.
I was called later by an assistant of the practitioner stated that my file had been mixed up with another woman's and I was my pap smear was not tested for the items that I had initially made an appointment for. The women said that if I wanted the test I could come back and have it done. I said that I was not interested because it was too far away and expensive for me to return.
Then I got a bill in the mail for the other woman's lab work and co-payment!
After several attempts to clear it up with The Medical Center for Women I mailed everything to the billing department, including a receipt for my payment. When I tried to explain it to Maria and Linda in the billing department they got very defensive and said, F*k You. Because they don't have record of me paying I have to pay for it even though it was not my tests!
After talking with Rondi, the supervisor, I asked if I paid it would they provide me something in writing that said I owed them nothing further and she said, No. I also requested that my file containing personal and confidential information not be passed around any further to these same people whom were making such mistakes, she also told me that she would not guarantee that.
The center has also refused to turn over my file to me so that I might keep it safe. How am I to protect my credit if I have no rights to my own information as consumer?
