I received an advertisment in the mail for a new gym opening soon. I signed a 1 year contract on April 1 and paid $600 based on what they were advertising and promising. We could not see the inside of the building because it was under construction.
The opening date kept being pushed back and they gym finally opened on July 25. When they opened their doors, they did not provide SEVERAL amenities that they had advertised. It was totally cheesy and was advertised to be a "upscale, one stop gym and spa".
In the original advertising that I still have, they advertise that they have Spa Amenities that include; Jacuzzi, skin care & hair & nails. They do not have any of that. The Jacuzzi & Skin care is scheduled to be done in 2007 but we are still paying full price now and they have no plans to add hair and nails. They also listed a Sauna but it only holds 3 to 4 people and you have to make an appointment to use it??!!
They also advertised that they would have Cardio Machines and that included "bikes". They only have 6 cardio machines and that includes 1 bike. Members have to wait for machines.
They advertised an exotic fitness program with pole dancing but that has been cancelled because the instructor got pregnant and they can not find anyone else.
As far as upscale, the childcare is open and the entrance is right in the workout area and they do not even have a drinking fountain. If you get thirsty and run out of your own water, you have to drink out of the bathroom sink.
When I approached management to get some sort of compensation until the gym was complete, I was told that I had no recourse because my 3 day right to cancel had expired back in April?!
The owner of the gym, Jennifer Presnal called me and insulted me and belittled my concerns. She told me that people did not sign up at a gym for the amenities and that I had the best trainers in the state at my disposal and that should be good enough. She also said that if I wanted to do cardio that I could walk around the building to get my heart rate up. I told her that I would go to the media and she told me that she had contacts everywhere and to just try it. When I filed with the BBB, she replied to the BBB about how she hopes I come back to the gym that she would welcome me with open arms. Jennifer Presnal will not compensate me at all.
I now want to tell the world that this company is a RIP OFF. They do not care about the members and they are only concered about keeping the money.
