Last year in August, my husband went to Dr. Bizer's visionworld in the mall because they had a special offer on contact lenses and an eye exam. Whenever you buy an eye exam, the optometrist gives you a quick exam and a prescription that is good for a year. Every few weeks this past year we went back for more contacts as my husband needed them (and we waited FOREVER everytime!)
At the beginning of July, I went to buy another box from Dr. Bizer's and the lady at the front desk told me she did not think she was going to be able to give me another box because my husband's prescription ended August 15... Which was over a month away! I explained that we are entitled to buy more contacts until the prescrition expires. She reluctantly let me have "one last box". I told my husband what had happened and he said to go back and get the prescription. Then he could just purchase a few boxes online to tide him over until his next eye exam.
I went back to Dr. Bizer's. The lady tried to WITHHOLD the presciption from us! I told her she was required by LAW to let us have it. She handed over what looked like a business card with the measurements of my husband's contacts and a signature scribbled on it. The prescription was for contact lenses called "Provision Premium 55". They don't tell you that this is a generic store ONLY brand. It makes it very difficult to transfer your prescription anywhere else because of several other reasons they DON'T TELL YOU аbout:
1. It is hard to find another compatible brand.
2. It doesn't matter if you DO find another compatible brand because the prescription is written ONLY for the store brand.
3. The store brand has it's own set of numbers (or power/base curve measurements) for the contacts. Again, you can not just ask for a comparable brand because the measurements are different and you are not able to waiver from what is written on the prescription.
4. Don't try to get another vision place to try to do the talking for you to transfer the script. Dr. Bizer's will brush them off too!
We will NEVER go back to Dr. Bizer's Visionworld. My husband did not get a year's worth of contacts from them or anywhere else because of their sleazy, scamming business "policies". Dr. Bizer's is a RIPOFF!
