In August I needed transportaion to the VA Hospital for a medical emergency in Oklahoma City. I had been paying EMSA for two years but never had to use them.
I called 911 and related that I had EMSA coverage.
Midwest City Regional ambulance came to pick me up and transported me to the V. A Hospital in Oklahoma City.in May I received a bill of $ 1525.27 from Midwest Regional Medical center for the ambulance trip in August.
I called EMSA and was told I was out of the coverage area. They then told me they could return the $75.00 I had paid them for coverage for the 2006 year but could do nothing about the two previous years I had paid them.
I have also spoken to a couple who live two streets over from me. They have carried EMSA for the last five years but have never had to use it.
I imagine there are many people my age who carry this coverage in this community and have no idea they are not covered until or if they ever have to use the service.
