Used deceptive tactics, "added services" and short trail timelimits to automate shipment and chargecard debiting for multiple items and services not initially ordered and made canceling practically impossible.
Placed "Terms and Policies" after the "Submit" box. The "Terms and Policies" is VERY long - 6-8 pages, most of it small type. The passages referring to returns is written in a way that most people would understand that returns are accepted provided they are unopened (which is how business is commonly conducted). But the company says that it is written to state that they don't do returns, period.
Canceling by phone is a long wait during business hours, which are short by standard measures, especially for a "mail-order" business. I called three times within the trail period, waited 20 minutes before hanging up. Finally, got in on the fourth try after a 30 minute hold (and what a racket in the background - true boilerroom operation), only to be told the trail period had expired.
If you do get into their phone bank to cancel, the biggest part of the rip-off is that they don't tell you that they have also "automatically" signed you up for a "eFitness" program, also with automated creditcard debiting and a short trail period. Further, the only way to cancel the fitness program is by doing it online. But you can't do that unless you get a password, etc. From the phonebank - another long wait on hold, during business hours.
In short, send an email to everyone you know warning them about this company and presumably many others of like ilk.
