Complaint / Review
Protective Marketing Enterprises
Ripoff artists, dishonest, liars, fraud, thieves

They represented themselves through a salesman as an insurance company, not a discount program. I specifically asked that question and was advised yes, insurance.

Due to my husband's health, we needed insurance and we did not have any insurance of any kind and we needed it desperately.

Well the only way to get it was through automatic bank draft, which I agreed to, but with the understanding that this was an actual insurance coverage, not a discount program.

The withdrawals came out of my account for the $199.95 and then also $24.95 plus a $10.00 admin fee for the RX side of the plan.

Well, then I received the information in the mail and guess what? It was not as it was portrayed to be. This was a discount program not an insurance program. I would have to pay for the doctor & hospital visits and procedures and they would reimburse me. And the RX part, well that was a joke also.

All of my husband's medications were not on the list, especially the one's that I would need financial help on and the ones that were on there, it would actually cost me more; since those medications I currently am able to get the generic brand and some of them are at or below $10.00, which was the least amount that it would cost me for each prescription.

This was in March or April when this all started; it is now December and I still don't have my monies refunded yet.

When I received the packet and it was not as it was presented to be, I called the next week to cancel my plan and was advised that I would be taken care of and was apologized for the inconvenience that they had casued me.

Well, then the next month, again they tried to take the monies out of my account for the plan and of course they were sent back for insufficient funds; which was correct, I only kept enough funds in the account for what I knew was going to be deducted each month from that account, i.E. Light bill, phone bill, etc.

Well when that happened, I had NSF charges charged to my account and also did not have the funds to cover my expenses that I needed to cover for the month. It was a snowball effect from there forward.

I then again called Protective Marketing and was then advised that I needed to send a letter in writing to advised of my desire to cancel my plan and that they would send it to the review board for my refund.

Well, they did not need my letter in writing to take my money, not did they need a review board to sign me up for the plan or to take my money, why do I now need a review board to see about my refund?

Granted, months passed on and I had let it slip from my tasks to follow up on this to get my money, until one day I came across the envelope that had all the papers in it and I then realized that I had not followed up on my refund.

I called my bank and had questioned them about checking to see if the monies ever were refunded, since I have since closed out that account; and it had not been sent back to me or to the account at the bank.

Well when I started making the phone calls in October I was assured that it would be taken care of and that I would have to reopen the account in order for the money to be refunded since that is how the monies were paid in the first place.

I reopened the account and on November 2 they tried to send the refund but had messed up the numbers through the system and the bank was not able to locate the account, so the bank sent the transmittal back to Protective Marketing and it was received back on November 10.

I called the bank every couple of days to see if the refund had been received yet and it had not. Finally I called Protective Marketing on November 17 only to find out that they had had the monies back to them since the 10th of November and that no one had had the initiative to call me and to advise me of this.

Since the 17th of November, I have been on the phone calling every couple of days only to be lied to to pacify me and strung along. Well, I am tired of being lied to and I am tired of being jerked around. This company, and all those like it, need to be crawled down on the carpet for their standards and practices.

When I have requested to speak to Debbie Travis, Director (not sure director of what), or Scott Treadway, CEO (not sure where either is located), I have been given to voice mails for advised the only was to communicate, would be by mail.

I just wonder if they are aware of the practices of their business and if they are, do they care? Maybe if they don't care or are not aware, maybe they should. Maybe their local Attorney General's offices need to make them aware of how the should conduct their business practices.

I have filed a complaint with the State of Texas Attorney General's Office and have been given the information to file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and also will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and also have been in contact with a lawyer that states that we may have a case with a class action lawsuit, if there are others out there in the same boat.

I hope so. Not to the poor individuals that got taken advantage of, but simply that the more people that have been screwed over by this company, the more voices we will have to stand up and take charge and let them know that we will not take this lying down.

I am due back over $400.00; but it sure would be nice for the pain and suffering and all the time that I have spent on this to be able to get a litte satisfaction for my time. If it had not been for my calls to their company, I would not have had any communication with them since no one and I mean NO ONE had the decency or the initative to pick up the phone and call me and explain to me what was going on.

Now their apologies mean nothing to me. They are only words in the wind with no meaning and are insulting.
