Extra Fee?!

I would NEVER refer anybody to Dr Goodman and his staff. I had went into Dr Goodman's office for a consultation on a issue of a bad taste I had been having in my lower right side molars (#30,31) for 6 plus months. I had a root canal done on both the #30 and 31 molars in 2005 and had a new crown put on #31about 6 months earlier and a new crown on #30 a year and a half prior. I also had gone to a endodontics a week before going to Dr Goodman to see if the bad taste was coming from any infection. The endodontics did see infection at the very tip of a root on #30 but said that it was to deep to cause the bad taste and recommended me to see a periodontics.
Which is what lead me to seek out Dr Goodmans practice. I paid $85 for the consultation and for Dr Goodman to tell me he wasn't sure where or why I was having this bad taste in that particular area but he wanted to do gum surgery and see if he could then find a "pocket" of infection. He quoted me around $1200 to shorten the gums on #30 and 31. He then asked me if I had ever had a gum cleaning and advised me to come in for a gum cleaning prior to the gum shortening surgery. I was quoted $135 for the gum cleaning. I went in the next week for my gum cleaning. The hygienist had horrible bed side manner and was very rude. Then the hygienist was concentrating on the area of my bad taste (lower right side molars (#30,31) which is when she popped off my #30 crown. I will say it did turn out to be a good thing because then we realized that #30 was decaying and the decay was causing the bad taste in my mouth. I then had to go back to the endodontics so he could get all the decay out (bad taste) and retreat the root canal. I then went to my general Dentist and asked him his opinion on the gum shortening. He did recommend that I have a gum shortening done but only on #30. My dentist then refereed me to his periodontist and he quoted me $1000 for the gum surgery and crown. Now by this time I have spent a lot of money on this area and I thought since Dr Goodman quoted me $1200 for #30 and #31, I wondered what the price would be for just #30? I then called and spoke to Vicki (the office manger) and she told me that it would still be $1200 even though he was only going to be shortening #30. Vicki then asked when I would like to make the appointment for the gum shortening. I told her that I had gotten quoted a lower price through my dentist periodontist. She then became very rude and asked me "Well what should I do with your records?" I had know idea what to say to that and I quickly got off the phone with her. Then about 15 minutes later Vicki calls back and tells me I have a balance on my account of $135. I was shocked and asked for what? I had already paid $135 for my cleaning and $85 for my consultation. She proceeds to tell me I have to pay for my x-rays that I had done at my cleaning. I tell her that I was never told that and also that they already had my x-rays from the endodontics. She tells me again that I have to pay and that they "forgot" to charge me that day. She seriously used the word "forgot". I don't feel like I should pay a fee that they never told me about. I called a couple weeks later after I got the bill in the mail and spoke with Vicki again. She was very unprofessional and kept telling me that I had to pay the balance and x-rays aren't free.
I finally broke down yesterday and paid the $145 ($10 extra for 6o days past due). I am so upset about this. I am a medical esthetician and only make $22,000 a year. I have spent so much money on my mouth and I don't want anybody else to get abused by this office. That office (Vicki) has no ethic's and doesn't care about there patients.
