HeartRateMonitorsUSA.com lousy customer service - "Garmin FR60 Fitness Watch with Heart Rate and Footpod Bundle"

HRM USA website advertised "up to 20%" discount off order if you mail in your old heartrate monitor for recycling. They instruct you to include a note with the old monitor saying what you wish to order with the discount. The website did not explain how to get the full amount of "up to 20% off" so I called to inquire, and was told that for any old monitor I sent in I would get 20% off my order. So I sent in my monitor with a note ordering the "FR60 Heart Rate Monitor bundle with Footpod and Premium Cheststrap" for $136.20, plus a tube of cream. They sent the tube of cream and 2 Premium Cheststraps. No monitor (the watch portion), no Footpod, just 2 cheststraps, and they charged me $101.94. I called to fix the order and was told it was only 10% off because they don't credit 20% for orders of that total. Therefore, I gave up my old monitor for recycling and got less for it than I was told I would over the phone or by the website, and I could not get it back. So the info they gave out on their website, AND by phone was: 20% off whatever you order, for whatever old monitor you send in. And what they gave me was only 10% off, screwed up the order, threw away my note saying what I really wanted to order, and left me with nothing to show for the old (still-working) h.R. Monitor I gave them, and less of a discount than promised.

So after taking back the extra chest strap I didn't ask for, they sent me the watch I did ask for as part of my order, but NOT the footpod that was supposed to be in the bundle. Now that they've thrown away the handwritten order I sent them and entered it wrongly in their computer, they refuse to acknowledge that I ever ordered the bundle with footpod in the first place, and all they will do is offer to sell me one separately. Thus I've lost the 20% discount I was promised on the footpod AND they want to charge it as a separate item, which is more than it would have been in the first place.
When I called them one last time to correct this (on 5/15), they now say I was only entitled to a 5% discount for my trade-in anyway, not 10%, not 20%. And 5% I could already get for a return customer promo code on the site anyway, so in other words, they've completely wiped out the discount I was entitled to for trading in an old HRM watch, causing me to lose all its value and leaving me no way to get it back. I could have sold it on eBay if I'd known they were going to reduce the discount they offered, reduce the order total they based the discount on, and then refuse to fill the rest of the original order for any discount at all.

After I complained that what they were offerring me for my old HRM watch was not what their website stated, they took down the trade-in offer from their site, because it did not fully or accurately explain the terms. I'm glad they're no longer deceiving other customers with this, but I can't forgive them for not honoring the discount they told me by phone I would get when I called to have them clarify the policy before giving them my old watch.

Because the only fix to this mess they'll offer me now is to sell me a separate footpod at a regular 5% discount, I'm not going to buy it from them at all. I'll get the rest of my "bundle" by buying that part from another merchant.
