Parts shipping charges - Online buy

I recently ordered a refrigerator door bin from sears parts direct. I ordered it online. I made a mistake and ordered the wrong part.

Now I am shipping it back and the correct part is being shipped to me.

But I must share my feedback. I would like for Sears to remain a strong store, but the Sears policy falls short of what other competitors offer, right or not. I had $9 shipping charges to get the $22 part here.

Now I must pay somewhere close to that to ship it back. Plus, I will have to pay another $9 to get the correct part shipped. I'm going to have about $25 in shipping charges to finally get my $19 correct bin.

How would this have been different at another store?

First, it would have been nice if the

Part were available at the store.

Second, in competitor stores I could have had the part shipped to the store at no cost.

Third, at some competitor stores, they have free shipping

Fourth, at some competitor stores, I could have returned the part to the store and avoided return charges.

At several competitor stores I could have finally ended up with the right part with no shipping charges. With Sears, it cost me $25 or so.

What is going to be the end result of this? People are not going to buy through Sears. This is why stores like Home Depot, Lowes, Staples and Kohls are eating into Sears profits. The smart move would be to match or better their policies.

It was my mistake, but next time, I'll go through someone else a little more forgiving and customer friendly.
