Target: employee refuses to use hand sanitizer after handling raw items

I was returning an item at Target when I noticed the customer service representative handling several cartons of eggs. With her bare hands, she opened each box, and I saw her finger some eggs. I have been poisoned by Salmonella before from dining at a restaurant, so I am observant at how employees handle products with their bare hands. She called on me to bring my item to her. I was the only customer in line at the time. I kindly asked her if she could use some hand sanitizer. She said she did not have any hand sanitizer. I pulled out my own, and offered some to her. She then made up an excuse that her hands are sensitive to certain things, and she refused to sanitize her hands. I didn't buy her excuse, so I asked if someone else could help me with my return, and she brought what appeared to be a manager. After I returned my item, I turned to the representative and thanked her for her help, but she looked at me like my compliment was b.S. I don't think she was smart enough to understand that if you handle raw food with your bare hands and then don't wash or sanitize your hands, you put others at risk for possibly contracting a deadly virus. What I did not appreciate was the blatant excuse she made up on the spot, about her hands being sensitive to certain things, and here she was handling all sorts of products (made from chemicals, fabrics, and other textiles) behind the counter.

On a related and different issue, I was picking up my prescription from Target pharmacy when I saw the cashier cough in her hands, and rub her eyes, which were bloodshot. Geez, if I really wanted to deliberately get myself sick, this would be the time and place to catch it. I asked if she could wash or sanitize her hands before handling my prescription, but she immediately said she did not have any. Okay, so I'm supposed to allow you to touch my medicine with your infected hands. For goodness sake, when I see you cough and rub your watered red eyes, I don't want you touching my medicine for obvious health reasons.

Apparently, sanitation and common sense are not customer service qualities Target management requires from their "associates".
