I wanted to buy one of the new Sony DVD HandyCams for my wife for Christmas last year, so I ordered one from buy.com when I saw that their price was about $130 less than Best Buy's price.in good faith, I placed the order and waited patiently... For over SIX MONTHS. After Buy.com refused to do anything for me but re-place the order over and over, I told them I was going to cancel the order, but lo and behold, they had shipped it only hours before! So here I sit with this camera, looking up some information about it on the web no more than 10 days after I got it in the mail, when I see it on a photographic equipment company's web site for $499. I had paid Buy.com over $770 for the camera. Needless to say, I was *furious*. I immediately contacted Buy.com and they basically told me that since it had been more than 3 days (!!!), and the merchant with the lower price was not on their list of "approved price matchable competitors", I was out of luck.
I ask everyone to boycott Buy.com for their horribly questionable business practices and dishonest business model. They ruined Christmas for both me AND my wife, and took me for almost $300 in the process. Way to go, Buy.com. Fantastic business practices! *not*
