Amazon.com sold me a Polar FT80 watch (paid $260) as new in Dec. When I hooked it up to my computer to see my training progress, I could see dates from Beginning of 2008 (almost 3 years old). After 8 months, it stopped working. I know that these watches come with Polar 2 year warranty. I sent the watch to Polar USA for repairs and they said it is out of warranty. I told them that I bought it on amazon.com about 8 months ago. They said their records indicate that it as 3 year old used / refurbished (multiple times) before selling to me. There is no bigger ripoff than this. I spent almost $75 to get it repaired. I have contacted amazon.com and they are saying they are investigating into this as to why this happened as if they are not aware of such lousy / cheap business tricks.
I will never buy again from them. It is safe to pay a few bucks extra and get it from reliable local stores than to trust these mean and evil online traders who just care for their bonuses and wallstreet profits.
