Verizon Wireless
Claimed no Activation Fee then charged me on my bill, claiming I activated during a 'non-qualified' period - watch out!

I switched to Verizon last month because, and ONLY because, they were running an Internet Special "No activation fee" deal. I ordered my phones and service on the last day of the special, received and activated them two days later, and then got billed for TWO activation fees on my first bill. It specifically stated on my online confirmation receipt that the fees would be charged AND removed on the first bill. Of course, when I called "customer service, " I was told that since I didn't actually ACTIVATE the phones that I ordered on the same day that I ordered them (huh?), I was charged because they were activated during a time that didn't qualify for the promotion (10/7). To further muddy the waters, she then proceeded to tell me that had I waited a couple more days, the 'free activation' would have taken effect again on the 9th-11th of Oct. This was mentioned NOWHERE on the website, nor was it mentioned on my receipt. Obviously it would have been impossible for me to activate phones on the same day that I ordered them. After much complaining, I was told that both of the fees would be removed "as a courtesy." What bullsh*t. If all my kids' friends weren't on Verizon, and if not for the early termination fee, I would have told them to shove it and left. I guess they feel they can get away with anything since they have you trapped for two years.
And can I just add that I hate all cell phone providers? Has anybody out there actually received good service from their provider? And by this I don't mean a cell phone signal, if you get my drift.
