I purchased a brand new Mitsubishi big screen TV from United Audio in the Chicago area about April of 1994. I have had excellent service and support throughout the life of the TV. Just a few days ago, my picture becomes blurry, colors were off and verical/horizontal hold went nuts. I called Tweeter Service to have a technician come to the house to fix my 36 inch Model #35601 Mitsubishi TV.
I was told that the company stopped manufacturing Tube TV's in 1999 and stopped manufacturing parts for my model year in 1997. They have a manufacturing defect that causes the PIP (Picture in Picure) board to stop working from an acid leak. Mitsubishi was aware of this defect but refuses to support their products. I have tried to contact Mitsubishi customer service without any response.
I am forced to scrap a perfectly good large screen TV because the manufacturer has decided to stop manufacturing parts. I was told that many of TV manufacturers are not supporting their products beyond the 1 year warranty. I don't know about you, but I am not real motivated to go out and spend 3-5,000 on a new Plasma or Digital HDTV that will not be supported after the warranty period. What happened to the "Quality Goes In Before the Name Goes On." Oh Yeah Zenith was bought by an Offshore company too!
