I recently flew to Frankfurt, Germany and used a payphone at the airport. The payphones had no indication as to how much an international call would cost nor any number to call to get such information. I had a 10 prepaid card but could not get it to work on the payphone so I had to use my credit/debit card. I had only used 13 minutes because I did not know how much the call was. U pon returning to Florida, my bank statement showed that it cost $86.43 from BBG Luxemburg, which is too much. I immediately called the bank to dispute but was transfered over to the Phone company which was BBG. They informed me that if I had listened to the recording it would have given me the information and that it was posted on the phone itself. I know for a fact that nothing was posted and that there was no recording on the phone. He then explained that credit cards are charged more than just paying cash - which I did not know! The cost for the first 5 minutes was @ $15 and a connection fee of an additional $5 was charged. This to me is a ripoff. This information should be posted on the phones. I was told to call back so they can see what can be done.
