2 phones for $49, not! Try $149 ripoff deception to consumers

I am an E.M.T.in the Ukiah area of California so I need a cell phone for when I am on call, I also volunteer at the local fire department and work at the local hospital in the med/surg unit taking care of the very sick. After completing some research we (girlfriend and I) found that verizon was the only cell company to cover the area, later we found not to be true (US Cellular and Edge Wireless cover the area).

While conducting our research we find that they are offering 2 LG VX10 phones (by the way they are cheap and awkward to handle) for 49 bucks, so we thought GREAT! We dont have a big budget so lets go for that deal. First day we went in it was observation time, we just checked out the phones the store had to offer and to confirm the plans offered, the salesman was pushy but not bad.

Day 2, we go back in and are approached the way you would if you drove a Bentley into a honda dealer, we were like woah, hold on there turbo. As he finally backed off and let us breathe he's bragging to his sales partner how he was going to win a contest for activations, telling his buddy he got 13 yesterday and six already today. So my girlfriend and I discuss the whole thing over and decide its ok. Now we walk up to the counter and all of a sudden hes too busy to talk to us, so we test him to see how long it takes and we waited for him to wake up for 10 minutes.

Finally we tell him we want the family share plan with 300 minutes and the promotional bonus 100 minutes with free long distance and weekends. So obviously this guy just whipped us though the paperwork like he had done to so many others and we walk out the door paying nothing with two new phones.By the way they had a banner for free car chargers, belt clips, 1st month free on second line and "worry-free guarantee." Sorry this is long but keep reading Im almost done.

6 weeks later thinking we signed up for a 65/month plan and two phones for 49 bucks we get a $250 bill. Turns out that not only is this a mail in rebate but you have to pay 7 bucks to send the rebate PLUS we had to pay tax on the phone's original retail price of $249 twice. So on the my bill wants me to pay $141 in equipment charges, WHAT HAPPENED TO $49???

The salesman Ron NEVER EVER said anything about taxes or any charges of the sort, he just confirmed to us that there was a 2 phones for $49 dollar deal. We went to three stores to try to get the phones to receive quality reception and it never happened, I also found out that they had over charged us not only on the equipment but, Ron had signed us up for internet access for $10 a month and never gave us our free month on the second line.

I had 5 customer service reps look at the bill and finally they decifered the code plus the cusomer service when dialing 611 on a verizon phone couldnt understand it. All the while Im thinking if they screw over a guy that has dedicated his life to help people sick and injured WHO WILL THEY NOT SCREW?

DONT EVER BUY ANYTHING WITH REBATE AND DONT USE VERIZION. I just cancelled the phones and now have to pay verizon 310 for service I couldnt use and equipment that I could better with some old printed circuit boards and a speaker, all the while I was lied to.
