Tivo does not disclose that when their products break down that purchased lifetime service will not transfe

I purchased a $900 Tivo HD DVR in 2007.in less than 2 years it has gone bad and while they have offfered to replace the box for $150, they have informed me that the lifetime service that I purchased for $400 has to be repurchased for the new box. I thought everyone should know not to purchase lifetime service since the boxes don't last and the service is non-transferable.
