January 27, at 6:40 I was approached by two men in a van. They were selling Dogg Digital 5.1 surround sound speakers for less than the list price, $1999. They claimed to install them for a living and that they needed to go back to work because their boss was waiting. After some talking, I agreed to purchase them for $400, plus an extra $20. I was suspicious, so I got the license plate number. The plate is California, 4WFR265. I was hoping that may protect me somehow. I was wrong.
I just got off the phone with the police department. They said that they couldn't do much, even with the plate number. They looked it up; it's a rental. They couldn't give me any more information than that. The officer kept saying, "buyer beware." He said that they did not break the law. It is up to the buyer to have security in what he is purchasing. If anyone has a friend in the police dept, they could check which rental company it came from and contact them. Then have a friend at the rental place who would give up the names of the people who rented it. Then you would have to hope that the id's were real. If all that took place, then you may be able to search their name in the police database, (If they have a record), and then maybe track them down and beat the shit, and money, out of them. Although this is practically impossible, it would make my dreams come true were it to happen. Of course, this is also illegal, and whhat they did is apparently not.
It was a tan or off-white mini-van. I figured something was fishy, and almost followed them, but I had to go. It was in 1221 university drive Vista, CA 92083. I believe that both individuals smoked. They had a red lighter and Marlboro cigarettes in the front. Both white males in late twenties. One had thin light brown hair and a poorly shaven face, with a small, scraggily mustache and chin beard. The other individual was maybe slightly younger. He had dark brown hair. I could maybe lift the fingerprints off the package, It is not open and he handled it more. It is still in my trunk. I have not moved it since I checked the brand on the net and found this site.
