Toshiba Satellite A215-S4757 Ripoff

I bought a Toshiba Satelite A215-S4757 in August in Masachussetts. And took it out of state to college one week later. At school i found out that my 2 GB $954.00 computer was runing 5 times slower that a $350.00 Acer notebook. This was perplexing since i had more memory and speed and both computers were running Vista. The computer then started shuting off when on its own. I would lose files and work and would have to start over I once even lost an almost completed 8 page paper two hours before it was due and almost failed a class because of this.

I called Toshiba at 1-800-457-7777 demanding that they do something about it since the machine was under waranty. They were able to walk me through the problem with the computer shutting down and restarting by it self but they could do nothing about the slowness.

I came home from college in May and could not use the computer anymore because it was too slow. I told this to the customer relations in which i sat on the phone for 3 hours. They decided i should bring my computer to a local UPS Store so it can be sent to the Depot in Kentucky. I did this and a week later i got my computer with everything erased from it and factory settings put on it. I lost Microsoft Works and have to buy it again.

The problem with the slowness was not fixed but instead the machine got slower. I contacted customer service again and had the machine sent to California this time. It got back 6 days later with the same problem. The Internet was still slow. They messed up the power plan so that power saver now runs brighter than balanced and high performance dont work. The touchpad was also messed up so that i cant scroll down again. I contacted the customer representative and they said they cant do anything further but to send it in again.

I found out from research and friends with Toshiba that all theirs act similar. Its been said there is a software and hardware problems with the Satelite Models that makes it run slow. I told this to Toshiba and demanded my money back in which i was bellittled to look like am stupid and dont know what I am talking about.

The customer representative said what i said was false and basically called me a liar. The phone then cut off or was hung up on me but i called back only to wait 2 hours on hold only to be told i would have to sent my computer in to Toshiba for thier engineers in California to see it again for the third time. I told them that i wanted my money back or a new machine because they had caused damage to my machine but again i was made to look stupid by the customer representative. My machine was shipped to California again but this time it took 12 days to get back and not surprisingly it has the same problem.

The thing that baffles me is that Toshiba knows ther is a problem with the Satelites but there has been no recalls or offers to fix the propblem. I live i Masachussetts and had to take my notebook to a small town of Auburn's UPS Store to get it shipped. The clerk at the store told me they were shipping 5 a day in that small town of under 20 000 people. I got to school in New Jersey and the people with the Satelites had the same problems.

I did research out of curiosity and thought it be good since I study Law in college and found out this problem is an ongoing problem and Toshiba is aware of it.

I demand my money back since i have no confidence in any Toshiba product. I believe any company that willingly sells default products is not a good one and creates legal problems for itself. I cannot keep sending my machine to California for a week or more because i lose wages since i use it for work. The problem is ongoing and those who buy the notebooks lose whiles Toshiba gains.

I wrote the director of Consumer Affairs and never got any response. One more problem about the company is that you canot call the office but you have to write a letter which you will not get a response... Save yourself the trouble and avoid Toshiba.
