I recently placed an order with techondigital for a Garmin 260w gps on the internet. I recieved a call later that day to call Scott at 1-877-425-9933 ext 207 to confirm my order. He first tried to sell me a sd card for the optional slot but I told him I allready had a dozen or so.
He then said that my Garmin was loaded with 2005 maps, and that it would cost $50.00 extra to update to 2008 maps. He then stated that if I went to the Garmin site it would cost me $100.00 dollars for the same update. I cancelled my order at that time. But felt he was not truthful with that statement.
I contacted Garmin international by e-mail and they replied that they never loaded 2005 maps in the 260w and that it would come with 2008 maps with a free update to 2009 maps. Everthing I was told was false as I was told.
I e-mailed [email protected] with the attached e-mail from Garmin International telling them what I was told by Scott and if he was doing this on his own, he should be fired. If they had told their associates to do this they needed to re-evaluate their priorities and correct the situation. I e-mailed them on Friday and have not heard back.
I also ordered another unit for a friend with his name but another of my e-mail addresses. He was not told about the 2005maps being loaded by Scott, but when he didn't buy a sd card he was told maybe one was in stock, maybe it wasn't. He finally said they had one and to enjoy his GPS. Today I recieved a e-mail on my friend Larry's order saying that they were out of stock and weren't expected for 6 to 8 weeks, so they were cancelling his order. Don't try to reorder now.
I wonder if someone ordered one today and bought a sd card if they would be out of stock
