Attracted by the low price, tried to buy a Canon EOS 40D in photodynasty.com. Called to follow up on the order and once they pulled up my order number the representative says: "what battery and charger are you buying with your package? We have such and such options", and was trying to sell me battery, charger, card reader, software, and USB cables, for a total nearing $400 more of the original price of the package I was interested in.
I said, I'm interested just in the package as advertised. The rep says (rudely) "well, you can have it but it won't work unless you buy these from us". Me: why not? Are you telling me I can't choose to buy accessories elsewhere?
Him: you don't understand! This is a 'studio version' of the camera, which is different to the 'retail version'...
Me: well, I don't think it's fair to advertise a package with a price if you can't sell just that.
Him: ok, what is fair is fair, and what is not, is not. I'll go ahead and cancel your order. (Rudely, and evidently annoyed by my questions and not giving a darn if he lost a $660 sale AND a customer).
I'm not entirely sure if this "studio version" tale has any validity, but I just decided to buy the 'real thing' from amazon. Couldn't believe the rudeness and pushy tactics from photodynasty.com. Definitely you get what you pay for...
