I first purchased a cellular phone from this company over a month ago. The phone advertised on their eBay auction was a v557, brand new, new battery and various other accessories.
I have had years of experience with Motorola phones, starting with the StarTac flip phone and every Motorola flip phone model since. So, when I received my "v557" I could easily see that it was not a v557 but a v551. At first I thought it was an honest mistake, until I saw that the phone's box had an obviously inkjet printed v557 label on it, and on the back of the phone, the original label that had the IMEI and model number printed on it had been covered by another sticker that said v557. The phone was also blue like v551s, not black as v557's are, and the antenna was flat on the top like v551s but not v557's. The manual was also totally fake, very crudely printed and stapled and only a few pages long. The battery was also not new as advertised.
I called customer service who confirmed that the blue phones were v551s. They sent me an RMA number and told me that my postage for returning the phone would be reimbursed. I sent the phone off along with a letter explaining the situation and letting them know the amount of the postage.
Weeks later I received my replacement, only to find a phone exactly like the first one. I called customer service and got the same person I spoke with before. This time they tried to convince me that the phone was a v557 which I again explained to him was simply not the case. I told him that I wanted what was advertised, and that his company had sold me a counterfeited phone. I also told him that I would be reporting the company to various authorities that handle online fraud, at which point he hung up without allowing for any resolution of the problem.
2 days after this call, they changed their eBay name from LLcellular to 5star_wireless, and their email address that had been used throughout their transaction (and indeed is still registered as the email address for 5star_wireless) no longer works, and bounces emails.
In short, DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY! Read all of their feedback, and do not be fooled by their robotic responses to all the negatives! Alot of people who do not have experience with these phones believe that they are genuine but I suspect many are counterfeit like mine and could even prove to be dangerous to the user.
