I ordered a Treo 680 unlocked on December 7, paid for by personal credit card and charged immediately. Since that date I have received numerous (7) emails stating that the item is on back order, the last email being January 25 and today being January 30. Phone calls to their main office are answered by a recording with the request to leave name, order number and a phone number and the assurance that "your call will be returned promptly." I have emailed them repeatedly and phoned them repeatedly, leaving my name, phone number, order number. Result: Nothing. At first I believed they were overloaded with orders. Then I thought they were disorganized and incompetent. Now I believe they are a scam and what they are waiting for is a cancellation of my order because -to quote their website-: "Cancellation fee: For any order that is cancelled before it is shipped, there will be a cancellation fee applied. The cancellation fee will be 5% of the total (including tax and shipping), up to a maximum of $5.00. This is to pay for order processing fees." So, if I cancel and they charge me $5 -or more, for all I know - then they make money without doing anything other than a little internet transaction. And, I figure, if several hundred people do the same thing, well then, they are skimming $5 or more per deceived customer, making a nice little pile of money without doing any work.
