Search results indicated that BestCameras.com aka bestpricecamera.com had a deal on a pro video camera AG-DVX 100B that was unbelievably great — almost 1/3 of the retail price. Turns out, after waiting on hold forever and speaking with a sales rep (to check that it was indeed new and not a refurb) he indicated that it was just the body.
I called back to speak with a manager to see what that meant... Did that mean no eye cup? Lens cap? Etc. The second rep was a little more candid and said that the price would be almost 3 X the amount if I wanted all the standards including the firmware! (I'm still dbl chking that the unit could be sold without the firmware). The rep justified this farce by saying the camera is great if you already have one and the existing one is damaged — which makes some sense, however, this is totally misrepresented on their site and even their IVR (outgiong on-hold message) leaves you with the impression that they are a big company and very customer centric.
This is a total bate and switch scam and there accessory prices are inflated these shysters should be put out of business. I will be sending a letter to the New York Attorney General.
