I was "tricked" by CameraAddict.com online advertising into believing I was going to be able to purchase a Canon Powershot S5 IS camera for $269 when the "English/US" version is in reality priced at $369 by them. This surprise came at the point I called in (at their request to confirm the order) and would not agree to buy any accessories for the camera from them, suggesting to me that they decided to decline my purchase at the "sale" price if I did not spend additional money with them. (I see this is evidently a practice with some other on-line companies selling cameras as seen on the complaint) This is "false and misleading advertising" and a shoddy business practice and does nothing but to disappoint a potential customer and to bring into question the basic honesty of the company. Shameful!
I re-checked the webpage for the Canon S5 IS on the website again carefully (because the salesman said the international camera sale price was explained on the website item page) and there is absolutely nothing that I could find on that page that explains that this camera is the international model and not the US model.
I filed a complaint with the BBB as well.
