I bought a 32" HD Tatung television from ShopNBC in December. Within about 5 weeks of receiving the television, it broke. I called ShopNBC and they told me I had to deal with the manufacturer since it was past 30 days.
I called the manufacturer, Tatung, and they said they would I would have to give them a credit card deposit of $800 so they could send me a replacement television and then when I received the replacement, I had to take care of getting the defective TV down to UPS myself and send it back to them (it was quite heavy).
I gave them my credit card info and they took 3 weeks to send the replacement television. To my dismay, the second television they sent me did not work either, nor did the third, the fourth, the fifth and the sixth television! Every television they have sent me in this last year have ALL been defective. Each time I have had to haul the TV down my stairs and take it to UPS myself which has been a major pain since I am a single person living alone. They refused to do any white glove or in home service. They have no authorized local service center to go to either.
Each time they had to send a replacement television, it would take them several weeks to get me a new one. Once it took 2 months. I have been without a working television for most of 2007.
I asked Shop NBC for my money back two months ago and they said no. Tatung refuses to return my calls now and will not return my money nor get me a tv that works. They also told me that I would have to return the television at my expense.
I took the TV down to a local repair shop and they said the entire main board needs replacing but they cant get the parts anyway because there is no local place to get them. (Their main office is in Taiwan). I had to spend $80 to get that diagnosis.
