Here is the error message I get from Nikon's website when trying to register my Nikon D50 camera and serial number:
"You have not registered for any valid North American Nikon Products. Please click here to register for a Nikon product
If you have entered the correct serial number in the "My Profile" area and are still getting an error your camera may not be a North American model camera. This download is only available to North American users. If you purchased your camera in North America, and the serial number reports an error you may have a "Grey Market" product".
Turns out the Nikon sold to me by Sunshine Electronics (AKA Cyber Discount Warehouse or Digital Shopping Network) is a camera meant to be sold in Japan. Nikon USA will not support my camera in anyway and have suggested this company be reported for what they refer to as "Grey Marketing".
