LG Life's Good but LG's not ripoff New South Whales

I have been considering buying a high defenition LCD television recently and had my heart set on buying an LG television as I had seen one at my hair salon and thought it looked good. However a close friend of mine had recently spent over $5000 (AU) on an over-priced and shoty LG Full HD LCD TV (Model number 47LB2DE) and within a few weeks the picture quality started degrading and within 4 months the television was completly damaged.

After this happened he tried to call customer service but they only offered to repair it, not replace it. The problem with this was that my friend spent over $5000 (AU) for a produt that would offer superior picture quality and performance and simply repairing the damaged LG wasn't going to achieve that. And honestly im sure any picture enthusiast who invests over $5000 (AU) on television should expect a product that dilivers superior performance for over 10 years.

Its a good thing I didn't spend over $4000 on my LG because I wouldn't have had any savings left for buying something better after it broke. However apparently this is not an isolated incident and LG have been selling many dodgy products and negelcting to replace them when they broke. And apparently its not just LG, Ive heard too many bad things about Samsung.

In conclusion it is not just a matter of IF an LG LCD television will break, but WHEN. If your LG LCD doesn't become completly unusable, you can be certain that its performance will degrade ove time. Therefor I wouldn't advise investing anything more than $2000 on an LG (and possibly other brands) product because when it breaks down, you wont be able to spend the savings you had put aside to buy your dodgy LG on something better.

In fact from what Ive beens hearing about other gadgets and gizmos like the PS3, Xbox 360 and Blue-ray disk I would just stay away from this whole technological revolution until the manufacturers start taking responsibility for the quality of their goods and stop over-pricing their dodgy devices. I realise this would be difficult if your techno enthusiast like me but I think its in the consumers best interest because the only reason these dodgy manufactures get away with selling over-priced and tacky goods, is because we keep making mis-guided purchasing decisions. Although I should mention Im not sure if its just LG thats tacky. I think other brands may have the similair problems.
