This isn't about the money, it's about being blatantly ripped off. At circuit city, I went in to grab a pair of cheap headphones since the cord I ordered from Bose never came since they are as incompetent as everyone else. So I found a pair of decent looking sony headphones for 14.99.
While walking out I happened to notice universal power adapter type thing intended for laptop. They came in different wattages but the one I needed was priced at $119.99 according to the little card above them. Quite expensive to begin with if you ask me, but I figured if it would power my laptop then fine.
So I go to pay, putting the items on separate cards, the total coming to $137.79 for the Kensington 120w. Then I was paying more attention and my headphones rang up for 19.99 and 9.99 for the adaptors for the power device. So I said I thought the headphones were 14.99, so the cashier called someone to go check, and was relayed and told me it was 19.99. So I'm driving home and realized that 137.79 is way too much for 119.99 and looked at receipt and it was 129.99.
On top of all that, when I got home to check it should be 119.99, it is 99.99 on the website. Now that is fine as I understand sometimes things are cheaper online etc, however when I went back to make sure my eyes weren't playing tricks on me, not only were both tags as I had said, it says "low price guarantee" on them. I returned everything with ease and did my best to stay cool with the customer service rep because I understand it is not their fault, so much as the company as a whole or whoever is higher up.
So basically is 2 out of the 3 items I purchased I was being ripped off on in that store, I can't imagine how many others are ringing out for more. I'm just sick of being ripped off by big companies and running in circles trying to get something done about it.
