I purchased a Toshiba 46 DLP television at the Zanesville, Ohio HHGREGG on 12/15.
In addition, I purchased a five year extended warranty package for $399. My bad, I never do that. On 10/29, it failed. No picture. According to the trouble shooting section of the manual, the lamp had failed.
The next morning, I called the only number on the purchase order. After several minutes of punching buttons, a human (I think) finally answered and gave me the service number. After a total of 72 minutes to this point, on hold, another answered and I told her my problem. She said that since the 1 year manufacturer's warranty was still in effect, I should call Toshiba service, and gave me that number. After punching buttons for several more minutes, I finally hung up and got online to locate the nearest Toshiba service center. It turned out to be about an hour and half away.
I called the number and found that they are closed on Sunday and Monday. I called the Zanesville store in hopes of talking to one of the salesmen with whom I had dealt. I was informed that one was gone for a year, and the other was off for the day. I was allowed to speak to the store manager, or so I was told. He assured me that someone from service would contact me within 24 hours. Needless to say, that deadline passed without any calls.
On Tuesday, I called the Toshiba service and found that they would not travel this far. He advised me to call Toshiba and they would send me a new lamp since I am out of any service area.
I still have not heard from HHGREGG and it is 11/9.
