Complaint / Review
InPhonics - Wirefly - A1 Wireless
Ripoff 3 rebates over 6-month period - non received Other Say D.C

Ordered a cellphone, Motorola i850, sold with Nextel service, now part of Sprint, from Wirefly. Have sent in the first two of three rebate forms, for $50 revates, with all required documentation. Third submission, for a $70 rebate, can be sent after Sept 11.

A couple of weeks after the first submission, I got a letter saying that some of the documentation was missing, with a phone number I could call. Called and was told it was their error; the rebate would be processed. All the rebate forms have an internet address and an 866 number to call to check on the status of your rebates. When you try to raise the internet site, you get a message that says you have reached the site in error. When I called the 866 number, I was told it had been changed (from 800-4303 to 607-9877.) When I called this number in the past, I got nothing. Tonight I tried again, and got a canned message saying that they had been forced to recheck all rebate requests, and were in the process. "Thank you for your patience."

I learned from this site that InPhonic was in teh D.C. BBB's area, and that the BBB was suing them. A call to the DC BBC confirmed that they had been a member, but had been booted out because of "thousands" of complaints. But the operator could not confirm the suit.

I could go to their internet site and file a complaint. Tried to do that this evening, but the site said they had no info on Wirefly. Noted while filling this out that this site does not list Wirefly, but by this time I had learned the Wirefly is part of InPhonic. Maybe this complaint will get some action ($) as it has, apparently, for others. Great work, RIP OFF!
