This happened a few years ago but it still sticks in my mind (and my family's minds) as the worst customer service experience. This is coming from someone who has done customer service.
In late Sprint started bugging me about paying my bill. The problem? I'd already paid it. There was no record of my payment. I had a bank statement that showed that money had been transferred to Sprint that month for slightly more than my bill had been.
I gave several Sprint phone employees this information and was met with skepticism from all ends. No one would listen to the fact that I had been charged. MONTHS later, and after hours and hours of sitting on the phone on hold and being HUNG UP ON MULTIPLE TIMES (and Sprint has no way of tracking calls, so every time I was hung up on I had to sit on hold for another 20 mins and then re-explain my problem), one ANGEL in this horrible organization suddenly realized the following:
My payments were going to pay another person's Sprint bill. This person's address was registered as my home address (thus allowing him/someone to use my cc for his payment). The helpful person forwarded my information to Sprint's fraud department and I never heard from them again.
I called Sprint multiple times for about 6-7 months after the discovery to see what was going on. Clearly I had concern: was this guy using my credit card number? Did he have my personal information? Was I a victim of identity theft? Was this a crime on his part or carelessness/a huge mistake on Sprint's part?
Upon posing these questions here was Sprint's answer (and there was laughter as this was said): "You'll need to get a lawyer and subpoena us if you ever want to know what happened with that."
I'm a college student—I don't have a lawyer and I don't have the money to hire one. I had no choice but to drop the issue. Based on Sprint's response I think something went completely wrong in their system—seemed like they had a lot to hide.
Classic Sprint horrible service.
