If you experience is like mine, they will first claim to lose part of your rebate and ask for copies of receipts. This will be "all that is needed" to process the rebate.
Then you supply the receipts, confirm they received it, wait a couple of months before contacting them, and they say that copies of the front pages of the manuals is all that is needed to process the rebate.
Then you supply the copies of those pages, confirm they received it, wait a couple more months before contacting them, and they say that serial numbers of the product (s) is all that is needed to process the rebate.
Then you supply the serial numbers, confirm they received it, wait a couple more months before contacting them, and they say that your full name, address, and serial numbers of the product (s) is all that is needed to process the rebate.
Then you supply that, confirm they received it, wait over a month, attempt to contact them but get no response, and now find that your online rebate status has disappeared!
It appears that too many people have heard that it's expected that you have to keep on these companies in order to finally get a rebate honored. More and more people are following up. The companies have responded by ramping-up their delay tactics.
Paying some Customer Service Reps to give us a hard time costs a lot less than actually honoring the rebates. Unclaimed and unhonored rebates can total several million dollars with just a single offer. That's free money! But that's also short-sighted, because more people are avoiding these companies with their rebate scams. I know that my company, friends, and family won't have anything to do with Canon ever again.
