I bought a hair dryer. I got it and opened the box. The first problem was that it was listed in the auction as 'ceramic'. Nowhere on the box or on the dryer did it say it was ceramic.
The second and most important problem was that the dryer had a 'regular' plug. The plug was like one you would find on a lamp or a radio. I called Zmartshops and told them about the caramic issue. I thought the plug MIGHT be an issue so I mentioned it, too, and was told that ALL their dryers had plugs like that.
They told me I could ship it back (because it wasn't ceramic) but would be charged a 15% restocking fee. I complained about that and was told they would waive it. I asked for an e-mail confirming it and I was sent one. It also stated that I would not be refunded shippping and handling and that I would have to pay to ship the dryer back. That didn't go over too well with me since they advertised it wrong and the plug was 'not right'.
I sent them an e-mail and said that I should not have to pay any shipping and that I should be refunded the purchase price, plus the original s h, and the cost of shipping it back to them. No reply.
The next day I sent the same exact e-mail again. No reply.
The 3rd day I was getting pretty mad so I looke up information on the plug with the CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission). I found out that dryers were required to have an ALCI or GFCI safety plug (the kind with the test and reset buttons on it). I then sent Zmartshops a third e-mail and also added my new findings from the CPSC. I told them they were going to be reported and guess what??? I got a reply!
They said that someone would be getting back to me. Nobody did.
I got another e-mail a couple of days later saying that someone should have already gotten back to me and to check my spam folder. There was nothing from them in my spam folder so I knew they were B.S.-ing me.
I contacted the CPSC-very nice people-wrote e-mails to everyone I could find who had purchased the same dryer, and informed E-bay about it.
To make a really long story just long, someone from the CPSC came to my house today, took the dryer, and told me there would be an investigation in this matter. The dryer is going to be shipped to Washington where the CPSC headquarters is.
The bastards are STILL selling the dryers in their E-bay store! I hope the CPSC screws them royally!
