Dahlton AV 5.1 THX Home Theatre System
Two young men (white/early 20's), in a black SUV approached me in a parking lot. They told me they were stereo installers and had just picked up their supplies from the warehouse. They only ordered 4 home theatre systems but the warehouse gave them 6 in error. They wanted to get rid of the extra 2 before going back to their boss. They were very clean cut and professional sounding. They even knew of neighborhoods in the area to make you feel like they were "locals".
They produced really nice brochures & newspaper ads stating the systems were worth well over $1,300 each
I bought them and when I got home & attempted to hook them up, they are a POS! Only 1 small speaker works! There are no serial #'s on the system anywhere. I went online to look up the manufacturer and that is when I realized I had been scammed.
$300.00 was my loss, the sad thing is my "gut" told me not to purchase the system. We negotiated from a starting price of $900.00. I was convinced I was a getting a good deal and based my decision on the expensive brochures, and the kid's awesome salespitch. Shame on me for buying them. The worse part is the kid tried to hit me up for an additional $20.00 for beer.
