Bought an RCA Surround Sound system as a gift for Christmas, unit failed in mid-February. Contacted RCA and they honored warranty through the manufacture date of the device since there was no reciept, gave me the name and number of their local authorized service center, which was Byrum and Bates.
Dropped off unit on the 25th of Feburary for repair. Checked with them after 2 weeks and they said it was not ready. Checked with them after 3 weeks, they said part on order. Checked after 4 weeks, part on order. After 6 weeks, I contacted RCA and informed them of the apparent part problem, they contacted the service center. Milton at Byrum and Bates told RCA that they had only had the unit 2 weeks and that the part was on order. I immediately called him back and Milton told me that he had to tell RCA that because RCA did not like to pay for warranty work if the part was not ordered through their distributors and he could get the part quicker through another distributor.informed me that the part was in and unit should be repaired shortly. (This was on April 11th)
Past 2 days, no answer at the shop, no call from them that unit is ready. Currently we stand at 56 days that they have had the unit. I had the unit for 59 days total, so on the 25th of April, they will have officially had the unit longer than I have.
