My cook top surface has some black rings from use. My contractor told me to contact ge because you possible would replace it for me. It is out of warranty I have had this item about 6 years no problems love it. Can't afford a new one right now -the only thing wrong is the burned on residue. I have used Cerama bryte I guess over the years it just stained
