I had just finished browsing online at JC Penny.com and a survey came up asking about my experience on their website. It said if I took a short survey, I could receive a free gift. I took the survey and chose the watch as my free gift. It said I would only need to pay $7.99 for shipping and handling, which I did on my ATM Debit card. Two weeks later, there was a charge for $98 on my bank statement for the $10 watch they sent me in the mail.
There was never any mention that I had to send the watch back, or my account would be charged close to $100. I thought it would be a good, cheap little stocking stuffer for my son.
The survery / internet site really led me to believe they were affiliated with JC Penny.com, so I thought it would be safe.
I think it's terrible people are ripping folks off, especially so close to Christmas. I know I really couldn't afford that $100 being taken from my account.
