My LG LDF6920 ST dishwasher stopped working one day. I called LG, they sent a repairman out who determined the Electronic Control Board had burnt up. LG covered the part under their 5 year warranty, the repairman changed it out and it still didn't work. They then said I needed to replace the Guide Assembly and Display Board. So, i ordered the parts and the repair tech came back and installed the new parts, it still didn't work. After paying $435 in labor and parts, the repair company sent out their top technician to see what could be wrong on Oct 15. After he fiddled with it some, he tried to run a wash cycle and it just started sparking, smoking, and CAUGHT FIRE right in front of us!!! I quickly ran to turn off the breaker that supplied power to the dishwasher. When i came back into the house, it was full of smoke! %u201CThe repairman said he had never seen anything like it.%u201D It was determined that the cause of the fire was from the ELECTRONIC CONTROL BOARD and it burnt up the motor assembly, main and display boards, wire harness, and more leaving my house with a burnt smell that is still stagnant in our home.
Since then, I have spent countless hours on the phone back and fourth with LG and Triangle
Appliance Repair to get the defected model replaced at LG's expense. LG customer service told me that LG would take care of the matter and that the case was going to get reviewed by upper management. I stayed on them calling every day over a period of days only to learn that management decided to only pay for the parts, leaving me with labor costs for their product catching fire! Why should I pay for something that wasn't caused by consumer mis-use? This is clearly a case where the Electronic Control board that was installed under LG's 5-year warranty was either installed wrong buy a LG certified technician from Triangle Appliance Repair, or from a defect in the model LDF6920 ST dishwasher Electronic Control Board itself.
So i continue to spend countless hours on the phone with LG only to get told a different story
each time i speak with someone and I still don't have a dishwasher. Fustrating. Not to
mention, that had I not been home during the fire, my whole house could have burnt down and lives could have been lost!
