When I got home today (May 26th) I had an invoice in my mail box from a company called 900 Direct. The invoice stated an 11 minute call was placed at 1:31pm on May 16th from a phone number I had disconnected on May 10th! The bill was for 65.00 Obviously the company made a mistake so I called the customer service number listed on the back of the invoice to inquire. The customer service agent, George, (whom I asked a last name and was told he would not give it to me), was very rude. I explained my delima, and was told I had two options... I could either pay the bill or not pay it and it would go on to ruin my credit report. I agrued for a few minutes then he offered to discount the invoice to 40.00. I said I would not pay a dime! He then said "Then you can go file bankrupcy!!! I then said, "I have a better idea, I will file a complaint with the bbb tomorrow, and not to expect this invoice to be paid". He then claimed I was threatening him and said he had to terminate the call...
The irony of this whole thing is, I moved from my old residence on May 8th, and had my old phone shut off on May 10th. I have proof of a final bill from Qwest my phone service was disconnected. So there was NO WAY anyone could have made a call from that number!!!
