Kodak
Ripoff treat's American workers like slaves. Refuse to buy Kodak film. Rip-off to employees & consumers

Bob from Rochester writes The only thing we can hope for is that Gene from Fairport a.K.A. Steve Pittsford/Rochester, Alex Batavia, etc, etc., etc., works there and gets the ax - fired - laid off so he can come to live in the world of his beliefs and design.

Mark from Webster writes Painful for who Carp? Certainly not you! You have no idea what it would be like to lose your job without having a golden parachute strapped to your $2,000 suit. Hundreds, no make that thousands, of hard-working people made Kodak what it is today.

Yet because of corporate mis-management and bungling, these people are now out of jobs. From 1983 to today, Kodak has reduced its work force by 40 THOUSAND employees. And all of them didn't? T take early retirement.

Many former Kodak workers were forced to either move out of Rochester. Take lower-paying jobs. Or are still looking for work. So please Mr. Carp, spare us your words of concern.

If you and your management team had any foresight, you would have seen years ago that digital photography was the? Thing? Of the future.instead you decided to out source jobs to China to save shareholders money. And continued to pour millions of dollars into the Advantix system, which turned out to be a miserable failure because the public didn't? T want it.

Mr. Carp, it would be poetic justice that when you open your pay envelope, it also included a pink slip. Daniel Crap from Rochester writes Of course we have to lay off people. Now if you'll excuse me, it's time to go to my $800/hour massage. LiberalRetard from Rochester writes I blame Bush! After all Kodak has been managing the company poorly for 20 years, but it's STILL all Bush's fault.

The layoffs have been going on forever, but it's still Bush's fault! If Al Sharpton were president, none of this would happen. Sharpton for president! Jiggy from Rochester writes No sense in beating a dead horse. Let's make hamburgers out of it... Bad management was always the problem... in any business. Mike from Penfield writes Management might be part of the blame when it comes old laviathan companies like Kodak. The same thing happens in war. Seasoned generals habitually use the outdated tactics of previous wars when they should be changing their mind set.

Kodak managers needed to update their strategy and are now being forced to by the market. It had to happen. There is no such thing as a job for life anymore in America and people need to think that way/always be willing to change/seek other employment opportunities that will benefit them or they will be left holding a pink slip on the side of the road... America is a capitalist society not a corporate or communist one.

If you want a job for life I'd suggest starting your own business or moving to Europe and paying higher taxes... Docpete from yellow box city writes For all the bucks their rich daddies paid for their MBA's I have to wonder - cutting heads is the best you can do? Happens all the time. Can't any moron sit at the top and destroy communities then? Kodak values - what a joke.

The new credo Please THE STREET. Greed is in, compassion, common sense are old fashioned. Drop to your knees and worship the Almighty Buck Kodak Managers and oh yes, sleep well at night. Mr carp's from salary writes... Is over $7mil a year. Higher salary than any CEO I could find just by browsing some other large companies. If he could take a pay cut down to a paltry $2mil that would be enough to employ over 140 workers at $35,000 a year. But I'm sure taking away that extra $5mil would seriously impact his quality of life so we can't have that. Kramer from burbs writes Well well well... No surprise here folks. Like I have always said Kodak measures there success one layoff at a time.

You Kodak workers deserve to get laid off. How many times have we all seen Kodak trucks and cars in the wegmans, tim hortons, etc getting treats for all of the umteen meetings you morons have. I have ex kodaker friends who stole everything they could from the company because they felt it was there rite. Laptops, cell phones, tools, fax machines, paper supplies and ink for there home pc's. Should I go on fools? Carp is blind, and doesn't care. Plenty of Mickey D's jobs to go around kids!

So Kodak just get it over with, why spread out the bloodshed for three years? You have no commitment to this town anymore... Homeless from Downtown writes Anyone getting laid off can come live with me. Plenty of room here in the aqueduct. Hey, can you get me a cell phone to buddies? How about a fresh box or two? George Fisher from Figi islands writes Hi all you losers.

I'm living the good life now thanks to all of you I laid off. Damm I got so much cash, I'm giddy. Seeya Dr. D. From Rochester writes Too bad my posts from this week are now gone. To summarize: Things change, it sux if you're laid off, but that's life. Now stop complaining. Everyone complains about the weather, but nobody does anything about it. Same thing. Dr. D from Rochester writes Just wait until drop shows up to blame it all on conservatives andor Bush. I'm sure he'll find a way... He always does. Dr. D from Rochester writes Just one more thing before I start WORKING AT MY JOB: Buggy Whips. Al Sharpton from wherever writes I am affirmatively, unequivocally, whole-heartedly upset at the lack of religiosity that Kodak undeniably displayed. Literally billions of folks will be indiscriminately disenfranchised by this stupendously and outrageously racist policy of comptemptuously firing the workers.

I will continuously and vigorously pursue a lawsuit in a manner most righteously to sue Kodak for approximately 100 billion dollars. Thank you all for so unwaveringly listening to my intellectually stimulating philosophy on why I unequivocally should be the next president of these United States. Maggie Brooks from Rochester writes Ok, NOW I'm raising taxes.

Nobody said Kodak was gonna fold on my watch, so all campaign promises are out the window. Zappata from Rochester writes If Dan Carp had any honor he would have resigned this morning. He is a product of the management style that has failed Kodak for the last 20 years. He is gut-less. Neo from The Matrix writes There is no spoon. Howard Dean from Vermont writes I'm with ya, Al! Let's go to Rochester and then to Washington (ripping off suit jacket) and SUE those bastards for racism. EEEEYAAAEEEEE!!! Jim from Greece writes I left Kodak on my own terms. I was tired of Fisher and Carp and all. Coasttoast from Webster writes It's going to be a sad day when Wegmans is going to be the biggest employer in Rochester.

I worked for Kodak for one yr out of the service and thank god I hated it. I have to say the management didn't see the digital imaging coming maybe they shouldn't be in management. DOH jhcj, wcv from jcjjkbrv writes Now is the time to make Kodak clean up all of its pollution - before they can get out of town. I mean, what's the danger - they may have to layoff some workers? Howard Dean from in NH writes FIRST-LETS GO TO NEW YORK!!! Then to rochester!!! (taking off his pants)... THEN ON TO AUSTRIA! And then poland! (takes off his underware)... AND THEN ENGLAND! (does a Hitler salute)... UND ZEN ZA VORLD!!! The_Duke from Henrietta writes In the Presidents speech he noted that he would be giving money to community colleges.

In previous layoffs, Kodak gave each layoffee a few thousand to use for education. Hopefully the layoffees will be able to keep there heads up and go into a new line of work. I have seen a few Kodak digital cameras, they are second rate compared to the other top brands. I don't think they make any digital media anymore, scanners, disks, memory. They have no future in the digital market, they don't have any products. Do they even make the paper for ink jet and laser printers that print nice photo quality? They are soooo far behind. BTW love the Dean comments on here, I saw a clip last night where they spliced him in with Hulk Hogan. Very funny stuff, what a nut case. Steve from Rochester writes Go to Hell Kodak, Dan Carp, Bob from Rochester... Outta this town... Stay and sink with the ship called ROchester/Amercia... As long as Bush is president, you will continue to see this story. Arrivederci America!!! Grandpa Simpson from rochester (chili) writes Who cares, as long as they get that stock going back up, right? CEO's really don't care. Cut and run for them. I hope Maggie, Mayor Bill, No hair, and Pataki can find something to do with the vacant buildings. Nah - just build new buildings if needed. Happyinvestor from rochester writes anyone want to know how much dan carp will make today with kodak stock up $3.50 per share Pataki from Albany writes Dont fret, I have a plan. I will turn Kodak park into one massive casino and red light district. I will also turn other Kodak locations around the city into gabling hot spots. Areas in the city will be color coded so depending on where you live, there will be a lottery that will determine which casino you can go to and loose your money. Transportation will be provided for a small fee. Once it gets going and we have a large base of addicted gamblers, I will then propose a gambling tax.

So as long as we don't all die in a fire and brimstone storm like the bible says, it should be fun and profitable for the state. Tarquinn from Huntersville, NC writes Did you Kodakians no see this coming? You should have been making plans years ago for this day that everyone knew was coming. Maybe you can commute to Toronto on the fast ferry. Rochester truly is made for living. Ex-dak from far from Rochester writes Lots of bitter words here. But the fact is that the handwriting has been on the wall for, like, 20 years! If you paid attention you would have seen that 1) it is very difficult to make money in digital because 2) the barriers to entry are low in digital, BUT 3) you can't stop people from going digital.

Finally, the most important tenet: ALWAYS KEEP YOUR EXPECTATIONS OF MANAGEMENT LOW. Put those simple observations together and you realize that if you're in the silver halide business, THEN PREPARE TO LOSE YOUR JOB. You should have been prepared for a long time. If you don't get this, you have only yourselves to blame. Ex-Rochesterian from Birmingham, AL writes My heart breaks when I think of all the families this will impact, and the domino effect it may touch off in my home town. The WNY diaspora continues. Hopefully the state and local governments can cushion the blow, and make Rochester a flexible, pro-business community that attracts jobs suitable for the middle and working class. Jwood from Longmont, CO writes I have a brother-in-law who was laid off from Kodak after working 25 years there, and a brother who has survived many layoffs over the past decade. It's no secret of Kodak's abysmal management and their inability to adapt to today's digital times. They have made numerous poor decisions again and again, without care nor regard for their employees.

I moved out of Rochester in 1995 after working over 6 years at the U of R. One of the reasons was for my field was that there were a limited number of job options compared to larger market areas like Boston, where I moved to and lived for eight years prior to relocating to Colorado. The other reason: After seeing what my brother-in-law went through before and after Kodak, and after seeing what my brother goes through now, I knew THEN that I did not want to work at Kodak! Not now, not ever!

Why would you want to work for an employer who does not care about their employees and only cares about their upper management?! OF course, that's the story with many a company, but I long lost respect for Kodak years ago, to the point it's time for Rochester to start looking to other employers to build its city around. Jobs Crisis from Rochester writes http://msnbc. Msn.com/id/4017131/ UndecidedVoter from Roch. Writes After watching the Dem debates, I truly thought Dean was a reasonable man until his maniacal tirade really put me off. Kerry is just scary. I'm afraid once election time comes around, the choice will be pretty simple. The lesser of two evils, yes, but people will usual choose for things to stay the same rather than change. Crash from Rochester writes Speaking of Lou Dobbs? Did anybody else catch Lou just now? He was definitely engaging in acting-like-a-democrat-related-activities. He read several emails from people reacting to the SOTU. The best was? I am an unemployed IT person. I am told that I am not qualified for a job, until I commit a crime and qualify for the new inmate training program? (paraphrasing here). Then he had DeLay on the show, who completely blew it. He started blabbing about? We don? T make carriages but cars and those are made overseas, but hurrah this is still the greatest and bes-test economy? At which point Lou tossed a good one, he said? If this is the best economy, why then do companies choose to move jobs overseas? I thought Tom would eat his tie!!! Hahahahaha! Dave Kaspersin from Rochester writes Wake Up Kodak!

All corporate heads need a major reduction in pay. They are doing terrible jobs so why are they still so overpaid? Kodak Top five received $8.3 million in salary and bonuses last year By Ben Rand Democrat and Chronicle; Eastman Kodak Co. Proxy (March 29) Crash from Rochester writes Outsourcing American jobs to the Third World is tantamount to legalized slave labor and economic terrorism! Http://money. Cnn.com/01/09/pf/q_antioffshore/index.htm C from Rochester writes Carp. Isn't that the name of a bottom-feeding fish? Fits the bastard! Ross P. From Dallas writes Ohhhhh, can't you hear that large sucking sound!!! 1 manhour (Mexico)= $1.00 1 manhour (China)= $. 37 S from Hemlock writes Don't worry Kodakers, Sutherland will hire you at $7.50 an hour. No medical benefits until you've been there for 6 months. Makes those 80 dials a day or in the words of Rick Harter, ex-used car salesman-turned-body shop supervisor: "If you don't make your 80 dials a day, don't bother showing up for work the following day." Shanahan from Newsroom writes KODAK TO CUT WORKFORCE 120 PERCENT Rochester, N.Y. -Eastman Kodak will reduce its workforce by an unprecedented 120 percent by the end of believed to be the first time a major corporation has laid off more employees than it actually has.

Kodak stock soared more than 12 points on the news. The reduction decision, announced Wednesday, came after a year-long internal review of cost-cutting procedures, said Kodak Chairman Dan Carp. The initial report concluded the company would save $1.2 billion by eliminating 20 percent of its 108,000 employees. From there, said Carp, "it didn't take a genius to figure out that if we cut 40 percent of our work force, we'd save $2.4 billion... But then we thought, why stop there?"We believe in increasing shareholder value, and we believe that by decreasing expenditures, we enhance our competitive cost position and our bottom line, " he added. Kodak plans to achieve the 100 percent internal reduction through layoffs, attrition and early retirement packages.

To achieve the 20 percent in external reductions, the company plans to involuntarily down size 22,000 non-Kodak employees who presently work for other companies. Among firms Kodak has picked as "External Reduction Targets, " or ERTs, are Wegmans, Xerox, Goodyear, American Airlines, Callaway Golf, and Charles Schwab & Co. Kodak's plan presents a "win-win" for the company and ERTs, said Carp, as any savings by ERTs would be passed on to Kodak, while the ERTs themselves would benefit by the increase in stock price that usually accompanies personnel cutback announcements. "This is ridiculous. I don't work for Kodak. They can't fire me, " said Kaili Blackburn, a flight attendant with American Airlines. Reactions like that, replied Carp, are not " Creating a Winning & Inclusive Culture." Inspiration for Kodak's plan came from previous cutback initiatives, said company officials.

In January of for instance, the company announced it would trim 18,000 jobs over two years. However, just a year later, Kodak said it had already reached its quota. "We were quite surprised at the number of employees willing to leave Kodak in such a hurry, and we decided to build on that, " Carp said. Analysts credited Carp's short-term vision, noting that the announcement had the desired effect of immediately increasing Kodak's share value. However, the long-term ramifications could be detrimental, said Bear Stearns analyst Beldon McInty. "It's a little early to tell, but by eliminating all its employees, Kodak may jeopardize its market position and could, at least theoretically, cease to exist, " said McInty. Carp, however, urged patience: "To my knowledge, this hasn't been done before, so let's just wait and see what happens." SSAAS from Rottenchester writes Dan Carp and all of the outsourcers like Steve in Pittsford are economic terrorists, intent on doing everything in their collective power to destroy what's left of the Greater Rochester area economy. You slave labor conservatives (like The_Duke and Gene) who like to blame unions, well, here's a newsflash: no unions exist at Kodak. Look for another liberal bogeyman, douchebags! Exdak from far away writes Kodak managment should have come up with a way to keep people buying film. But no they stupid. Because Kodak management failed as such, people are now buying digitel cameras. So less film is sold and now they have to lay people off.

I say "Blame the people who buy digital cameras and blame Kodak management for not convincing them to buy film instead." Because if this would happen, I wood still have my job making film. The way it should be. The only way I know. It's other people's fault s's! Docpete from yellow city writes Yo, Carp, Perez and the rest of the slugs, remember this... It would be easier for a camel to slip through the eye of a needle then for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven. Did you ever read that anywhere slugs??? Crash from Rochester writes This needs to occur in Rochester: http://searchcio. Techtarget.com/ori... I945594,00.html Al from Rochester writes This hit on the Rochester economy dwarfs the 9-11 attacks, BIG TIME. Hey, Dan, where did you learn from a al-Quaida training camp? Beenthere from Fairport writes Believe me, the people that get laid off are better off than the people who get to keep their jobs. Management will suck every bit of life from your body while they keep telling you how YOUR job is in jeopardy. You don't see many VP's signing up for unemployment. Slammer from Chili writes Who cares, you know what goes around comes around, management and employees, its called greed, they all sat back and let the digital age over take them if it weren't for George Fisher who pushed digital, Kodak would be gone by now.

When people are losing their jobs I think tax money should be spent wisely, you know like a fast ferry. Steve from Pittsford/Rochester writes Sorry. I don't work for Kodak. If you lose you job at kodak fo look for a jon somewhere else. People lose jobs and find jobs everyday. Why is everyone getting so worked up by this news? If you need to leave Rochester to find work then move. Would we rather see Kodak go out of business completely? You liberals of course will say yes. It's just the cost of doing business.

They need to change the direction the company is headed. If they don't need as many people to do that then it's time to change. Tom from Rochester writes I wonder what all you guys would be itching about today if the headline was 'Kodak's Gone Bankrupt and will Liquidate Assets'... Or 'To Save Money and Restructure Kodak moves HQ to Mexico'... Be thankful they don't give everyone the boot and are staying put for the time being... TB from Roc writes Rochester and Monroe County need to stop bending over backwards for Kodak.

Stop giving them all the tax breaks, they are slowly leaving and do not care about the local economy. BlahBlahBlah from KodakPark writes Keep your stupid comments to yourself. I'll be working at Kodak for a long time to come. The company's still going to be around. Some of us will remain employed. Especially me, young blood willing to go the extra mile. They'll ship out all the old farts and then we'll be left with a lean and mean work force. You wait and see! Crash from Rochester writes There was an interesting debate about this on an NPR station in San Francisco the other day. You can listen here: NPR Discussion About Off shoring/Decline in U.S. Economy, etc. Http://www.mtstars.com/download/listen.html All of the panelists agreed with your estimation.

It's only a matter of time and we are a 3rd World Country. The tax revenue loss alone is in the billions... Honeybee from Rochester writes I've worked as a secretary to upper management here for 30 years. If employees knew how they treat themselves — private jets with steak & lobster for lunch, private limos, millions of stock options, fancy offices with private kitchens, living rooms, and baths, catered meals in their offices, private security guards, the whole nine yards... If the managers gave up even a small piece of their compensation, thousands of "average Joe" jobs could be saved.

It's so sad. Most of us just want to get OUT and go someplace where people smile and the air is fresh and clean. BlahBlahBlah from Kodak Park writes Honeybee: Perhaps you just need to get yourself out of upper management and come down from that tower. It's now secret that upper mgmt takes care of themselves up on their on the 19th floor. I smile and breathe easily everyday. It's all abotu location, location, location. The_Duke from Henrietta writes Its a private company, if they want "private jets with steak & lobster for lunch, private limos, millions of stock options, fancy offices with private kitchens, living rooms, and baths, catered meals in their offices, private security guards, the whole nine yards" they can have it. Its not like its a government office. Dr. D from Rochester writes To those of you who think you have all the answers: Know this - Most managers, Vice Presidents, and CEOs have done your job. Have you ever tried to to theirs? Shafted from by Kodak writes Duke: you forgot about the genital messages upper management get from their secretaries. Job security for them. But for those that "play by the rules, " they get the shaft. Shafted from by Kodak writes P.S. Guess that explains management's frequent trips to the dry cleaners. The_Duke from Henrietta writes Well shafted, I guess you should have taken those knee pads when they were offered to you. You got a little something on your chin, there ya go, your good. Dr. D from Rochester writes More COMPLAINTS???!!! I thought I told you all to shut the hell up!!! Corporate jets, limos, catered food, etc. Is a REQUIREMENT for efficient business at senior levels. They (we) work 80 hours per week, taking calls at all times of day. We certainly don't enjoy the nice meals, limo rides, first class air, etc. Because we're WORKING all the time.

Next time you are on your union-mandated break time, loafing around the water cooler bitching about your meager wages, or otherwise slacking off, remember that people are paid for what they do. If your job isn't financially rewarding, then you don't provide much economic value to society. Leno Fan from Rochester writes *President Bush said last night that Americans are the hardest working people in the world. That? S the problem. With the economy, everybody? S working two jobs just trying to make ends meet. Hello! *Bush said American workers will need new skills to get the new jobs in the 21st century. And some of the skills you? Re going to need are Spanish, Chinese, and Korea because that? S where all the jobs went. *In his speech President Bush proposed new job training programs. And who better than Bush as an example of what happens when you take a job without any training. He? S shown by example it? S not a good idea to get training on the job. Hvbcjhc from ribrvlrvj writes Hey Dr. D or is it Dr. Dick? Don't overestimate CEO's no most have not done our jobs - most big company CEO's are spoiled retards from rich families that used connections to get into their positions.in short they are assholes with no more smarts than anyone else. Dr. D from Rochester writes Hey, lskdfjlsd from sljfljsdsjd... Spoken like a true "have not"... Just keep complaining and maybe your life will get better. I guarantee that EVERY CEO and corporate officer in the country is better educated, has more experience, better judgment, and a higher degree of business intelligence than you do. Or do you think you're stuck in some sh*y job just because there is some conspiracy against you? Idiot. Steve from Pittsford/Rochester writes If you have to work 2 jobs than good for you. I can appreciate your hard work. Everyone is making me hungry I think I can go for a nice catered lunch. Let me e-mail my assistant so she can place an order. Thanks for the suggestion. Shrimp and Steak also sounds like a good plan for dinner since I'll be working through the early part of the night finishing up on reports and getting home just in time to say good night to my kids. You made me forget how easy us upper management people have it.

Yes, most of us did start working at lower level positions and through hard work and motivation we moved up the ladder. Wingnut from Calif writes Was let go in 98 life will go on and you may find yourself a happier person i know I did. Dave K from Rochester writes Most managers, Vice Presidents, and CEOs have done your job. Have you ever tried to to theirs? Is not true today. Working your way up is a thing of the past. The RG&E is liveing proof of that! Dr. D from Rochester writes I'm sorry, but silver-spoon retards (to paraphrase) are simply not tolerated at senior management levels.

First of all, they are rarely if ever "promoted to their level of incompetency" as the common saying goes. Furthermore, are under more scrutiny than most low level employees even know about. Just because some peon doesn't understand WHY a decision was made, or doesn't AGREE with it, doesn't make it a BAD decision. Believe me, if everyone's opinion counted in business, things would be a total mess. Leave the big decisions up to the big boys... And keep your uninformed bitching to yourselves. Docpete from yellow city writes Dr, D why don't you go out and get yourself a REAL GOOD case of SARS. A*hole Outof work from drifter writes New program just announced by American CEOs "No Job Left Behind" The plan gets strong backing by congress and the US president! It's net with rave reviews throughout Asia! CTGSPECIALIST from ROCHESTER writes SHIRT tails/COAT tails have been the KODAK MANAGEMENT System for years, they clone their next Managers over the years and program them to become YES people who cannot make a decision.

As for Digital, it's been around for a long time but Kodak Management thought (as they always do) that it was years down the road, just like Fuji was. Well where is FUJI right now? So back to Digital, Kodak stayed with riding the GOLDEN GOOSE of FILM and never devoted it's resources to perfecting the Digital process. Every year the same news came down that sales were slow, dropping off and so on, then came the down sizings to off set the loss of sales/profit. So the higher ups decided that Kodak must work harder/faster with LESS PEOPLE, except in the Management Area. After every down sizing there were NEW VP's hired, imagine that. Now Kodak is sending what made this Company, out of the country to be manufactured by people at lower pay scales, and they expect us to feel energetic about coming to work and KEEP giving that 110%.

Kodak Management should STOP LIVING in their FANTASY WORLD, open their eyes and see what they have destroyed. Employees are at their wits end not knowing where the future is in Rochester. I've always visioned the chain of command as a triangle, but Kodak has that inverted. There are WAY TO MANY BOSSES and not enough WORKERS. Dave K from Rochester writes To Dr. K You must be very isolated.

What planet do you live on? Dr. D from Rochester writes SARS? Geez, I didn't think this had degraded to that level. Oh, well... Truth hurts, don't it? R from Pittsford writes So Dr. D... I guess it was all those GOOD decisions by truely qualified and superior managers that got Kodak where they are today??? Dr. D from Rochester writes No, the company got where it was today because sometimes bad things happen. If they had taken another course... Easy in hindsight... Would things be different? Hmmm... Maybe maybe not. All I'm saying is that people at every level of management do the best they can (including Bush!), and being critical might be the American Way, but it is rarely productive.

I highly doubt that anyone on this forum would have been able to make a better decision at the time, given the knowledge available at the time, and given the pressures on them at the time. Tarnfeather from Dr. D aka Dan Carp writes "Dr. D" is actually Dan Carp, trying to justify his genocidal lay-off program. Can't wait to see your bonus looks like. Then, we can see about getting you tarred and feathered at the Liberty Pole! Exdak from another town writes CTGspecialist (I assume that's coating specialist): You have a bullseye on you. Don't sit like a deer in headlights and expect management to save you. Film is fading, it was inevitable, and nothing Kodak or Fuji or Konica does can stop it.

It is not management's fault that film is in decline. A new technology is out of the bag and taking over. It is completely and totally up to you to take charge of yourself. There is no time to be at wits end. You need all the wits you have to plan for the next part of your career. Get on with it! For Dr. D from Reality Check Time! Writes Time to put a bull's eye on Kodak management. Where the hell was their so-called long-range planning regarding digital when the rest of the competition made the shift? A clue: Their heads were far up their you-know-wheres! Don't blame workers for management ineptitude. They own the problem and try to pass it along to others. How typical! Bull's Eye from On Dan Carp writes We'll have to see how much Dan Carp gives to Bush this year in campaign contributions and Dan's return on investment will be. More tax breaks to export American jobs? Dr. D from Rochester writes Target on Management? Where was their long range vision? It was constrained by prior investments in film, by the board of directors, and shareholders... And most of all a desire to keep things going for the existing employees. All of which made it hard to get out of the business. Did you forget that prior CEOs have TRIED and FAILED to move the company along the painful (and only) path away from film?

At least by now, most of the intelligent employees should have gotten out. I guess you missed all the signs and stayed. Dumb-ass. Maybe they should've layed off 50K at once in 1985? That was the other option. Their business simply didn't have economic merit due to a shift in technology. It's nobody's fault. It's just HOW IT IS SOMETIMES!!! If they had exited film while it was still somewhat profitable, you would've been ready to shoot them then, too. Eco 101 from for Dr. D. Writes Workers produce product, management produces overhead. Simple as that. Class dismissed, Dr. D! Dr. D from Rochester writes Actually, I think K has done a pretty good job of balancing their options. They've gotten a ton of shareholder pressure to run the biz into the ground, milking film for whatever it's worth, and could probably make a good buck selling all assets via EBay. Like it or not, that is an alternative to restructuring and moving toward digital.

My only concern is that, as an educated digital camera consumer, I find their products lacking in quality, features, and price. Certainly, if they think they're get rich on paper (or ink) they're crazy. NOBODY print images to paper when they can be emailed, posted, and viewed online. I take over 500 images per year and print less than a dozen. Bob from Rochester writes The truth is that film and paper is highly profitable and is still highly used throughout the world. Much more so than digital, especially for Kodak.

Unfortunately it appears that these layoffs mean the film manufacturing for Kodak is continuing and accelerating the exodus to china. It seems pretty obvious that Clinton and now Bush are not able to do anything about it or are accomplices in the move of corporate jobs out of america. Either way its time for the corporate government welfare to stop. On another note D from Rochester is Gene from Fairport spewing the same corporatism crap under yet another name. He's a one boy show and a traitor to America Ahead from Rochester writes I would think Kodak should pour more money in to emerging technology to boost and strength the technology now, making their digital area truly compatible. There will be so many potential technologies to break the way just as Bill Gates has done. Cut the obsolete sectors and pour more money in research, competing in current and so to be market.

Only then people will really buy in Kodak over Japanese cameras, or films. The new innovations will bring quality jobs to our area. Dr. D from Rochester writes "Workers produce product, management produces overhead. Simple as that." No argument from me on that one... But when workers criticize managers for poor decision making, that irks me. Workers are workers because they don't make good managers. Monday morning quarterbacks piss me off. Dr. D from Rochester writes I'm not Gene from Fairport - really. I did post as Maggie Brooks this AM, but that's it. Bob from Rochester writes Dr. D from Rochester, now your not only a traitor to the United States but a liar as well exdak from some city writes Look, Kodak management made some spectacular blunders. But the digital revolution is what's killing Kodak now.

Why don't you guys try to figure out how to make film-sized margins off of someone else's bits. You're screwed. As a 15 year veteran I saw what was Digital and Applied Imaging succeed at some things and fail at others, trying to figure out how to deal with the fact that any Chinese electronics sweat shop could bang out digital cameras, each one chewing away at the film business. And don't think that Nikon and Canon are getting rich of of these cameras. They may be successful in making cameras, but know this: their digital camera income is a pittance compared to film. That's the problem EVERYONE faces. No reasonable person would blame the employees for this situation. But targets they are, because FILM IS DYING AND ITS TIME TO DEAL WITH IT. Chhccv from cjkckwc writes Hey Dr. D - Brown nose Blowdak on your own time.

Kodak is tanking because of stupid management and sycophant weasels like you, who always cheer them on and make excuses for them. These managers would not hesitate to blame workers if something goes wrong (usually to save their own butts) but they will take no blame if the company is going out of business. So tell me Dr. D, does that cheerleading outfit come with kneepads? Bob from Rochester writes Assuming Clinton and Bush aren't accomplices in jobs leaving America (i.E. They would prefer for it not to happen). We must assume that they can't stop it. This begs the question who is really in charge of America? Weenis from Roc writes Dr. D you sound like one of those useless middle managers trying to justify your job. Crash from Rochester writes Kodak measures success one lay off at a time! Uh-Oh from The Roc. Writes The K is in the deep end of the pool with no floaties.

They've shifted gears to compete with HP and the like. It's gonna get ugly. HP's about 5 years ahead of them in digital imaging. Good luck K boys. Sal from Gates writes dr d sounds more like a back pedaling Kodak manager trying to make sense of his own stupid decisions. It is the true essence of stupidity when one persists that he has acted wisely when his obvious failure looms over his head. Good night Dr. D khcwhc from jbkjwb writes The future of ditial imaging was apparent in the 70's - a little late to be surprised by it all, Kodak? Bob from Rochester writes It's time for government to cut back. With all the jobs leaving this country the tax payer can no longer support the extravagant public school and it's over paid employees, nor county and town governments excesses.

We need about a 30% property tax rollback now! Jiggy from Richester NY writes Wonder what productivity will like for the next two years at that waste dump? Carp should just jump off the building and make everyone happy. Wait till China throws them out... Then what? Jim from Greece writes I'm sure Kodak will have to promote more people to VP's to manage all the China projects. We will have more chiefs and less WORKING people there. J from Orlando writes Man, I've got to stop reading the D&C. It is the most depressing paper in the world, (except maybe the Beirut Express). Does anything good ever happen there? Good News from To Orlando writes Yes it does. We just saved a bunch of money on our car insurance by switching to Geico but Buffalo and new york state are paying $102million to make it happen? Dr. D from Rochester writes Hey, the D&C is great... If you're a stinking liberal!!! Message for from Dr. D a.K.A. Gene writes Dr. D why don't you go out source some more jobs to china you puke Green Box from Japan writes Time to put Blowdak out of its misery. Buy Fuiji!!! Pro-Rochester from Rochester writes Look, we knew this was going to happen. We knew the layoffs were coming.

Kodak made a bad decision to not go forward with much of the digital research that was done back in the 70s and 80s. Kodak research done right here in Rochester helped other companies become the high-tech giants of today. Much like Xerox helped build Apple and Microsoft, Kodak spawned an industry that has now cannibalized it. But Kodak is incredibly strong. Earnings of over $1 Billion this quarter will serve well to speed up the switch to digital. We in the Rochester/Monroe County economic development field must do everything in our power to make sure that Kodak brings the companies it acquires to town.

We should do whatever we can to get Kodak to shut down their Hollywood, Atlanta offices, and NYC offices, and move them back home. Layoffs happen. But our economy, unlike the national economy, is truly resilient. New companies are sprouting up in a variety of cutting-edge fields. These are the companies that will power Rochester in the future and push us into our next boom. We are well-positioned to be a leader in the next economic expansion. We just need to make it happen.

Forgive me for being so positive, but negativity will get us nowhere. Compressed from Paychecks writes Average wages in growing and contracting industries, end of recession (11) through 11. Http://www.epinet.org/webfeatures/snapshots/archive/0121/snap20040121_wage_diff_table. Pdf Blowdak from Sucks writes The negativity, as you like to spin it, needs to be aired. Suppressing the truth does no one any good! Too many families and lives have been destroyed because folks chose not to expose the Enemy From Within, particularly management that sends jobs overseas! Or poison our rivers like Kodak has done! Spin-off industry: Expect a HUGE surge in bank robberies! Dave K from Rochester writes I wrote this in 1994 and its still true today.

Too bad Kodak and the rest don't get it. The Downsizing and Demoralizing of the American Workforce And what about the people who are left behind to work twice as hard, often at the same salary. Ask anyone who is still working for a down sized firm, their morale has never been so low. Many fellow employees are cutting each others throats, because they are so afraid of losing there jobs. The American worker is terrified to speak his true mind, because he or she may be the next one to be shown the door. The corporate heads of almost every company in what used to be this great United States of America are playing this game. Some probably really do need to, however I believe the majority of them are taking advantage of their employees to make the bottom line look good. Keep the stockholders and the board happy, and get my big bonus.

Get rid of the older, higher priced help, and replace them with younger people who out of need will work for a lot less money, and a lot less benefits. Some of these corporate creeps even hire back the people they laid off at less pay, and little or no benefits. But, what are the corporate heads of these companies really doing? Our country is in serious financial trouble. And it's getting worse by the second. And one does not have to be a financial wizard to see why. The workers of america have lost the ability to buy. If we do not pay our people a decent wage they simply do not have enough money to buy, and when people stop buying the whole economy suffers.

One of the reasons people work is so they can obtain nice things for themselves and their families. After a long hard day it is nice to relax and enjoy the things you have worked so hard to get. But how many of us have the money, time, or strength left to live the way we want to. People making less money pay less taxes. People making no money pay no taxes, and have to be supported. The very rich pay little or no taxes.

The corporate heads of america are strangling themselves and all of us, and our government is helping them to do it. If corporate america doesn't smarten up this country is financially doomed! And it may already be too late. Crash from Rochester writes Time to know the enemy and they have a bulls eye on YOU, the workers! Http://www.cspp.org You want to click on "Choose to Compete" on the right hand side. It will download a 20 page PDF (Adobe Acrobat) file. Ffokrekj from hsub writes And Bush thinks the State of the Union is just swell: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933, 109199,00.html hcjhc from cjbcjk writes Let's see Scumdak has to ship out to stay competitive. But Fuji, Toyota and other foreign companies build plants in the US. Why can their managers make it work but our retards have to leave? - Oh, I know, it's because our managers are dickheads like Dr. D. HideoVideo from Japan writes Kodak suck big time. Dumbass managers like Carp and Dr. D make my job easy. Hey Carp I got nice Koi pond for you to live in! Haaaa haaaa Haaa Ha Crash from Rochester writes http://www.billings gazette.com/index.php? Id=1&display=rednews/01/18/build/business/45-jobexport.inc Dr D from Rochester writes? Infants found Dead in Concrete? Now who would let babies play with cement? Obviously not management material. Dr. D from Rochester writes Everyone should go read the two feature articles on D&C website about Kodak..."Decline... Will happen, Kodak says, even if the transition to digital imaging goes off perfectly. The reason: Kodak? S Monroe County work force is heavily engaged in manufacturing film, which Kodak says is in permanent decline. And many of Kodak? S new jobs will not require manufacturing of any kind."... And my other favorite (this one really stings): "Kodak in its heyday kept upward of 80 cents of every dollar in film sales. It is now moving into industries where the gold standard is earning 5 cents on every dollar."... Bad stuff happens every day. Kodak enjoyed great profitability and growth for many years. All great things end, so get over it and don't blame management unless you were in the room making decisions. If you weren't, you're not qualified to even comment on the issue. Kiss Kodak from Good-bye writes On-line Poll from TV 10 Will Kodak survive in Rochester? Yes: 34% No: 65% Msg to Fake DrD from From Real Dr. D writes Play fair, and don't post under my name please. Dr. D from Rochester writes... It confuses the other idiots in the room. Chwdcb from kcjbkcjb writes Dr D = kiss kiss suck suck Dr. D from Fessing Up writes I'm a upper-level manager at Eastman Kodak (343 State Street; 19th Floor), and I enjoy seeing people suffer through the turmoil created by these selfish actions by management-types like yours truly who have an insatiable need to profit and to create all kinds of hardship on the local economy. Just looking out my window and I love it. Dr D from Rochester writes Yes, I sit here and make decisions just to toy with the little people that constantly annoy me.

Most of us management types have within our power the ability to crush undesirable like bugs, all the while lining our pockets with cash. PULEEZE - DO YOU IDIOTS REALLY THINK THAT HAPPENS??? Hhkrvb from kbrvb writes Dr D - you are so full of crap - I suppose that you were in "the room"? How do you know the decisions weren? T stupid? - The results were stupid. Stop pretending that you know something, your just proving that you are the idiot. Stupid is as stupid does - Kodak did stupid things and you are doing a stupid thing by blindly making excuses for them. Go back to packing your cardboard box. Dr. D from Rochester writes Or do you think it more likely that management struggles with no-win situations, making the best choice available to them?

SO WHAT IF YOU'RE NOT THEIR FIRST PRIORITY — WHY SHOULD YOU BE? You don't have the economic clout to merit such consideration. This has never changed since the time of cave men. Why should it be different now? Dr. D. From The Cyborg writes Yes, Dr. D., everyday and TWICE ON SUNDAY. You're no human; you're a cyborg! Time for tighten those bolts, terrorist! Anti Gene from Uranus writes I know one thing Dr. D / Gene doesn't do any work. He's on the D&C board all day every day. Typical manager living off the backs of real working people. And then stabbing them in thye back Dr. D from Rochester writes I have never defended any decisions, except to say that they cannot be second guessed by ignorant, uneducated, douchebags come Monday morning. Wg from Rochester writes I used to work for Elmgrove. The problem was corrupt managers. Does any one remember the in-plant prostitution ring? How about the manager that ran a log-splitter manufacturing company right under everyone's noses - and then didn? T get fired when he got caught. How about the fact that a high official of KAD owned a machine shop under his wife's name and farmed work out to it when Kodak workers were on lost time? Kodak managers didn't have time to make stupid decisions - they were too busy stealing. They're a bunch of crooks. Ahead from Rochester writes Dr. D, what are you doing here? It seems you have been here all day speaking to a bunch of somebody that you look down to. Are you unemployed and have nothing else to do?

Add you 2 cents to the real problem and or add someone to your payroll if you are able to create jobs. Otherwise stop fooling yourself and irritating others. Dr. D from Rochester writes I would stop, but I can't. Too much fun taking pleasure at the misery of others. Yes, I'm gainfully employed and grossly overpaid for surfing the web all day. ;-) jhvvhjwe from vlnw writes Well Dr. D, (Doctor of what?). Paleontologists have proven that cave men took care of each other. Even the Neanderthal cared for the crippled and sick? And although they are extinct, they had a longer evolutionary run than we did. Between you and the Neanderthal, the caveman is the better man. And don? T forget, cavemen made decisions too. As a result man as come a long way. Which is more than I can say for Kodak.

So I guess cavemen made better decisions than Kodak Executives.? Time to go extinct, Dr. D? You will make a lovely fossil. J from Gates writes I worked at Elgrove too. Those stories are true and they were just the tip of the iceberg - Kodak Executives robbed the company blind. Especially Fisher.ccSDFS from Rochester writes Ex-KAD employees: Name names. These scum bags should be exposed! Kodak from Corp. Welfare Cheat writes Looks like the beginning of the end of Kodak. That being said, time for the City, County, State and the Feds to move in and force Kodak to repay all of the Corporate Welfare they've received over the years.

Ralph Nader's Corporate Welfare Project has identified several examples of subsidies and tax breaks enjoyed by specific companies whose CEOs were signatories to the 1995 balanced budget letter. For example, Eastman Kodak was able to reduce its 1995 U.S. Taxes by $37 million due to export sales and manufacturing tax credits; Kodak's 1995 profits were $1.252 billion. Far from stimulating job growth, the Pataki Administration's economic development programs have been marred by one costly flop after another.in the past few months, at least four companies that are benefiting from lucrative economic development subsidies handed out by the Pataki Administration — Kodak, General Electric, Nine West and Rubbermaid — have all announced significant layoffs in New York. More than a dozen other companies have laid off large numbers of employees in New York or moved operations out-of-state soon after receiving financial incentives from the Pataki Administration.

For example, Kodak, which has benefited enormously from State subsidies over the years, recently received a package of tax incentives and other financial assistance worth at least $21.7 million from the Pataki Administration. Though Governor Pataki boasted that the deal would bring 50 new jobs to Rochester, any euphoria over the possible addition of jobs has been greatly eclipsed by Kodak's recent announcement that it is going to eliminate anywhere from 6,000 to 8,000 jobs from the company's Rochester headquarters. Jhcv from cwb writes Dr D I've noticed that when people counter your posts you come back with sophomoric crap like: "ignorant, uneducated, douchebags - Monday morning quarterbacks" Let's face it, you are not the comeback kid. Your more like an intelligible hobo yelling out gibberish on State Street. Alice from The Kitchen writes As it was said before, Dr. D. Is really Dan Carp. His so-called comeback explain a lot about management's thought process! Ahead from Rochester writes Kodak stocks jumps high today. If kodak employee know the problem with the management, the investors are so blind. What is going on? Stop being down, if you really think the need in management, name the names and let them go.

I still see Kodak as a decent company overall. Trish A. From Farmington writes Interesting tidbit about the goings-on at KAD. I can relate a similar incident involving a call center manager (Linda K.). She was 2 years shy to retire, so she found a way to get a financial bridge: she slept with a VP that over saw MEC operations; she got her package!!! Emperor Shrub from Speaks writes We rely on the government and businesses to feed us these numbers and they are the same A55hole5 that are cutting the jobs in the first place. Unemployment Insurance requests only account for a fraction of the people out of work, therefore I think the number is MUCH higher. IT is dead and bleeding in the streets and we keep thinking using the Hubris of the 90s will carry us through but free trade is raping the IT industry the same way that it raped coal miners, factory workers and steel mills. We scoffed back then saying hahah see what you get when you don't get to college? Well? What is the f0cking excuse you are going to give to the people that are 60 grand in debt for a nice flashy college degree for a job that is in Bangalore now?

How long before we start just shooting the bastards responsible? I don't see our "democracy" representing the will of the people here but that is no shock since we don't live in a democracy. We have what is known as a "representative republic" problem is our votes don't elect who we voted for and our representatives don't represent us they represent the corporations who bribe them. History has shown us the only way out of this is through bloody revolution. Since nobody likes that process for obvious reasons (killing is lowering yourself to the despicable tactics of corporations and governments) it will get much worse before it is clear someone needs to get killed at the top instead of at the bottom for a change.

Perhaps someone has a better idea when votes don't count and representatives don't represent? And don't say retrain or we will have to kill you first. Tragiclydefeatd from Roch writes Anyone with half a brain can see that in the global economy, if you want to keeps jobs in the US you need to vastly lower wages. The reason people in India work for $5000/yr is because their cost of living is much lower. For instance here in Mpls, MN, a studio apartment runs $550-750. Food is ~$150-200/mo for a family.insurance "God knows how much".. Etc etc etc... Don't blame the US worker, it's not his fault he needs $30000-45000 just to live decently.

It's the cost of living here in the US that's a killer. Johnnie Wishbon from State Street writes CEO economy recovering, maybe, while ordinary Americans' lives get worse day by day. Welcome to the global era. What the greedy capitalist scum do to the third world they will do here at home, if given the chance. Watch them try to privatize everything under the sun—even air. Georgie from take note... Writes What kind of recovery is this...? MyMantra from Kodak Digicams writes Except: they aren't designed by Americans and are not manufactured by Americans: no opportunity for innovation by Americans - that's likely done where's they are designed and manufactured which is probably one of their competitors. That leaves the only "essential" American components being so-called "management brilliance" (consult Dilbert PHB's for what that's worth) and dubious "intellectual property" (the entire US patent system will be meaningless when 90% of innovation *and* 90% of new markets are in China and India). Danita from Monroe County writes Laying off the US work force and shifting to the overseas workforce is the newest trend to show profit margins for the major corporations.

Mr. Bush prompts the US saying how good the economy is because big business is showing profits, what he isn't telling the American People that the profit made is because of: 1. Massive Job cuts by those Companies. 2. Hiring and Training peoples in China to take over those jobs for pennies and Hour. 3. Major Corportations spending the profit in China to built manufacturing facilities for those Chinese Laborers. We as taxpayers and voters need a dose of reality. Just because the Dow and Nasdaq look cute with good numbers does not mean we are in a recovery.

Be afraid folks very afraid Make a bad from decision, cut staff! Writes Now that Kodak has cut staff by 1/3 how much have management cut their own salaries??? Wasn't it management who made the decsions on the direction of the company, that turned out to be wrong? Perish the thought that management should take responsibility for their error. Remember what President Truman said, "The buck stops here." Youknowsit from Kodakchester writes ECONOMIC RECOVERY CONTINUES Just tell that to the poor saps at Kodak. No worries, there's plenty of jobs at Wal-Mart, Target etc. Where all the engineers etc. Can find work.

Thank you globalization and greed. Jobless from in Rochester writes Consider Bush's "jobs initiative" which is actually a paltry sum in an effort to get people to go back to school to retrain themselves in some yet to be determined field. The fact that there are few jobs available seems to escape Mr. Out Of Touch, but that's a topic for another discussion)."Passive methods of jobsearch do not result in job seekers actually contacting potential employers, and therefore are not acceptable for classifying persons as unemployed. These would include such things as attending a job training program or course or merely reading the want ads." Those taking time off to retrain themselves are not included, which is ridiculous because that's the reason they're trying to retrain themselves. And here's a good one: ""Discouraged workers" report they are not currently looking for work for at least one of 4 reasons: 1) they believe no job is available to them in their line of work or area, 2) they had previously been unable to find work, 3) they lack the necessary schooling, training, skills or experience, or 4) employers think they are too young or too old, or they face some other type of discrimination." Wow... So if I can't apply for any of the few jobs that are out there because I don't have the skills specifically required then I'm not counted as unemployed because I'm not looking. If I then attend training in an effort to try and get one of these few jobs, I still am not counted.

There's a great way to make it look like the unemployment rate is going down. Slobutshure from The burbs writes Up to 15,000 jobs lost just at Kodak. And Bush is telling us that the 1000 net jobs added last month in the USA is a sign that the economy has turned around? Nothing is going to happen on the job scene in the USA until we rid ourselves of the rats at the top of American corporations. These execs are overpaid, lack any desire to take risks, and are unable to be innovative (except in shady accounting practices). Our political and executive leaders need to get off this kick they're on to reduce the size of our middle class. A rising tide should lift all boats; our politicians seem to think that the rising tide means they have to push someone else down to stay above water. Td from Caledonia writes The layoffs keep coming, unabated. Kodak adds another 15000 to the total human carnage.

Ya can't have a recovery until the job market stops hemmoraging. GOP Response from U Deserve It 'Worker writes You lazy manual laborer or skilled worker or whatever you are, you don't deserve a job or benefits. You're a commie traitor lib! John Q. PUKE, compassionate conservative. Jay from Webster writes Guys, this has been a one (or two) horse town for too long. I just saw a story about a guy at Kodak who said he thought he'd be there for life. That's inexcusable in these times, no matter what job you have. My dad worked for Delta Air Lines for 35 years. Do I expect that from wherever I may work? NO! Manufacturing is dying, and we need to train for different kinds of jobs. We always need to keep on the lookout for new opportunities and keep up on market trends for labor. There are jobs in Rochester—I have a good one, and I'm sure I could find another, but that's my point.

I always keep my skills up, and I'm always on the lookout for new things. I don't expect any company to keep anyone employed for life. That's just not the way things work anymore. And the sooner we get out of the "why us" mode here in Rochester, the better we can weather this storm. I do feel for all the people who have been laid off and will be laid off. I have been there myself. But you just have to go on. Re-train if you need to. It's hard, but it's worth it. Little Tyrone from Rochester writes DUMP NAFTA AND THE WTA!!! Jobs will continue to hemorrhage from the USA. Is this rocket science? Little Tyrone from Rochester writes Retrain for what? Operating Freedom-fry machines? KKKN from Roc writes Don't see how Bush can get reelected now. UndecidedVoter from America writes KKK, you'll have to convince the average undecided voters like me to keep Bush from winning. Currently, I don't see any better alternative than voting for Bush this year. Maniacal Dean and Scary Kerry claim they will change America for the better. Voters like me don't like change.

We're fairly optimistic about the future so why rock the boat? KKKN from Roc writes Guess you must be one of the jerkoffs at Kodak responsible for 15,000 people being unemployed. Screw you and corporate whores like you! The Pope from Vatican writes It's all part of God's plan for Rochester... Do not question it... Bendover from Rochester writes Kiss my ass! Just wondering from Not Glockchester writes Rochester is looking more and more like Gary, Indiana and Flint, MI everyday. Take the 24-25 year olds lead... FLEE! Go stocks from Brighton writes Attention Securities Analysts: You want to see Kodak stock soar? Watch Dan Carp announce that Kodak will no longer offer retirement payments to retired Kodak employees and their families. Imagine the cost-savings. Imagine the dividend payments. Mrs. Miller from dallas writes when are they going to rename "Rochester", "Buffalo East" Fast Fairy from Crapchester writes The next time someone asks you about Rochester, tell them, "Actually, the business climate's perfect." Gene from Fairport writes Bob from Rochester, you seem to have some sort of fetish about me using other handles.

Give it up. I know you just can't believe it is possible that there are other people who share similar opinions as me but it's true. (BTW, I don't entirely agree with Dr D. Kodak clearly missed the boat. They had market myopia - couldn't believe film was going to decline a fast as it did.in addition, their odds of succeeding in ink jet are extremely low. Best to ride this baby to ground. If I was a shareholder, I'd be pissed about their expensive ink jet folly.)

Anyway, I don't post nearly as much as before because the thrill is gone. This board became more and more juvenile, and I got tired of dealing with you and all of your pseudonyms. Seek help, Bob. And unlike you, I wish you well. Country Boy from Canandaigua writes "We understand this is going to be painful for everyone to go through, but if we don? T change, there is a bigger price to pay,? Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Daniel A. Carp said" How is this going to be painful to you Dan Crap? Are you taking a salary cut to help out? Are you donating any of your money to help out? Are you asking any of your managers to take salary cuts? You are a joke and should be sent to jail. Joe from Rochester writes Blue Collar, Blue Collar, Blue Collar (uneducated manufacturing jobs)... Thats who is getting laid off. Thats OK, hopefully we'll get rid of a few thousand of the white trash/city scum that plague this town! NeoCon from Rochester writes Bob, Gene from Fairport isn't the one using all of those "asfklj" handles. The_Puke from Henrietta is doing it. His poor spelling and grammar give him away. It looks like he got his feathers ruffled today by fellow-neocon Dr. D. Hey Puke, enough with the "retard" "dodge ball" and other goofy stuff nobody gets. Give it a rest. Captain Prozac from Hamlin writes The price of greed... Upper management continues to receive bonuses and salary increases, while the people who do the real work (many of them to barely scrape by) suffer. It's the American Way. Dack Joyle from Crapchester writes You're right Joe! Now that they have no jobs, they'll just pack up and leave. OR they could always join in Rochester's lucrative drug trade. Rochester... Made for Foreclosing! Jiggy from Richester writes One more reason the City of Rochester should never have just pumped up corporate type of business. They've never really encourage lucrative small business in Rochester. That's why there is very little here. Only the corps. No stores or manufacturing around for diverse business climates. What's the best they come up with? Casinos? Yeah, here come the Kodak layed off workers to blow their unemployment monies downtown. Sure, Smaktaki, needs to get his head out of his a*. And, Maggie needs to developed her own without sucking up to him too. Is she on her knees already? I thought it would take a little longer.
