E.D.C. A Lifeskills
Chris Pauly Bait and Switch Discriminatory Practices

My name is Greg and I was convicted of my 1st DUI May. I am in the process of repaying my debt to society for my reckless actions. I was sentenced to 3 months 1st offender DUI class to complete in order to receive my license. I called DMV (916) 657-6525 to find a class nearest to my home. I received only 2 locations, EDCA Lifeskills in Placerville, and a location is Sacramento. I chose EDCA Lifeskills in Placerville because of proximity to my home.

I called EDCA Lifeskills and asked, "Can I be enrolled in their 3 month 1st offender DUI program." They said, "Yes, come to orientation on 09/01 at 1:30pm to sign up." I arrive at orientation and the 1st order of business is to sign nonrefundable disclosure documents, pay $234.00, and then wait for the group orientation where they discuss the details of the 1st offender DUI course. Only after the disclosures are signed and the money is paid, EDCA Lifeskills informs clients that the 3 month program is actually 4.5 months based on the way their classes are scheduled.

After completing the orientation, the same day, I find a DUI 1st offender course located in Folsom and their program is only 3 months. I request to transfer my documentation to the Folsom 1st offender DUI course called Brining Institute located on 8894 Greenback Lane, Orangevale, CA 95662, (916) 987-0662. This location is closer to my home and it is only 3 months, not 4.5 months. After calling EDCA Lifeskills and requesting a transfer of my documentation, I am charged $50.00 for the transfer request. I do not dispute this charge. However, due to the deceptive business operations, and bait and switch tactics regarding the non refundable $234.00, I am appalled they would take and not refund my orientation money of $234.00 based on their deceptive 3 month course program, after payment is received; they then inform the client that it is actually 4.5 months. They have every right to have a 4.5 month program based on CA sentenced mandatory 18hours which allows EDCA Lifeskills to schedule classes based on whats best for that company. I am not disputing their right to have a 4.5 month program.

However, I am filing a complaint due to the bait and switch tactics which lures clients into signing non refundable disclosures, collecting $234.00, and only after these steps are completed, then informing clients the 3 month program is actually 4.5 months. I believe that with EDCA Lifeskills close relationship with courts and DMV; they feel these tactics will go unnoticed or unpunished. Unfortunately for EDCA Lifeskills, I will be filing a law suit with my family attorney as well as filing multiple complaints with all agencies who my be able to help refund my orientation $234.00 payment. Only after the $234.00 payment is refunded to me, Greg, will my aggressive tactics for justice toward EDCA Lifeskills discontinue. I appreciate any help the State of California Department of Justice and all other compaint handling agencies can provide with forcing EDCA Lifeskills to change bait and switch tactics, and the refund my $234.00 orientation payment.

Lastly, I understand the people affected by EDCA Lifeskills are not pillars in our community and have been convicted of extremely reckless behavior, however, the people affected by EDCA Lifeskills are human beings who are just trying to repay their debt to society and move on with their lives without being punished further by DMV/Court relationship based companies like EDCA Lifeskills. We have all been sentenced by the court and subject to all fees associated with the court and obtaining a new drivers license. This EDCA Lifeskills business is preying on the lowest members of our society because they believe their relationships with DMV and the courts will save them from legal repercussions.
The manager of EDCA Lifeskills Chris Pauly has less than understanding or cooperative and as a result has been formally served with my request and advised of further actions I and my attorney with take until this matter is resolved.
Thank you for your time, your help, and understanding.
Greg
