This company needs to be based outside of the USA! Their standards are immoral. I'm guilty for being hurt on the job and must prove my innocence. I injured myself after I blacked out from a heat-stroke falling 13 feet down a telephone pole, resulting in a compressed fracture of L-1. Back then there were no corrective surgeries. I was 20 years old. 28 years later I had a similar type accident which left me in severe pain when walking and a head concussion.
Since SBC is self-insured they contract companies that are ruthless and will save them money without making SBC look like the bad guy!
May 29, I had a spinal fusion, from T-9 through L-4, I have a beautiful 15 inch scar. Right after surgery I woke up with nerve damage - excruciating pain and numbness that hasn't subsided. I also had damage to my throat due to the tube they shoved down for me to breathe during the 5 hour surgery.
Because I was only being operated on my back the insurance company refused to pay for my throat or feet/leg damage to get me medical help. Regardless of the resulting damage from the surgery (this is not called a complication so one doctor says).
I had San Diego's finest orthopedic back surgeon, Raymond Linovitz, perform the surgery. Two months later he was paid off by Liberty Mutual to send me back to work! Yes, he's on the website for you to make your appointment.
Although my union (CWA-worthless) contract said I was entitled to 52 weeks of pay (with almost 30 years of seniority) the insurance company refused to admit responsibility therefore, not paying me one cent! CWA (Communication workers of America) likewise refused to help. Amazing how they don't have a problem collecting my $60 monthly union dues even while I'm disabled!
I have been FOLLOWED by a private investigation company hoping that they can catch me on VIDEO throwing somersaults or dancing the night away. I'm in SEVERE pain and have wished I were dead more times than I want to admit. The pain med's aren't helping.
I have been denied any psyche help (they don't want to admit by paying for a psychiatrist/psycologist visit) although multiple doctors have continually requested psyche help.
Oh yes, I also got a worthless attorney, Phillip Alpert, who is basically taking my money and doing nothing to help me. I only hired him in order to stop the harrasment of:
HELMSMAN - workers compensation company, as well as
LIBERTY MUTUAL aka SMAART - disability insurance company.
I wasn't told in advance by Phillip, he doesn't handle the insurance side of it, only Workers Comp. I've been accused by his paralegal, Leticia, that the few times that I had to call his office that I've been a complainer. HUH?
Other attorney's won't take the case since it would mean less money for them. I may have to represent myself.
For those of you having to deal with Liberty Mutual aka Smaart beware! Their employees are ruthless and will document everything you do and say if given the chance. When they get injured they'll get the same dispicable treatment, serves them right!
If you think you're not being video taped then you're sadly mistaken. I wish I had someone that could help me deal with all of these sickening people. If I don't die from my physical conditons I'll end up dying from the stress I've been put through.
